I heard that the new Restaurant (next to the frame store) on Sloan Street has recently opened. Anyone checked it out, yet? |

It is called Terrence Allen. I went in last night and had a burrito. The place looks great. It is self service. They have salads, hot entrees, burritos (design your own) and some other items. Plenty of tables including a large outdoor section in the back. Grand opening will be sometime in the next two weeks. Also, Harrar Café (Ethiopian Restaurant) is opening today - is where Sweet Concessions was located. |

Cmonty: Sorry, not really self-service, but there is no waitress service. You tell the person behind the counter which ingredients you want in the burrito and they make it.

Just stopped in to Terence Allen this morning--they're doing a trial run this week, with a "hard" opening next week. BEAUTIFUL space. They have an area in the front where you can get fresh veggies/fruit, and a lovely dining area on the other side of the counter area. I'll definitely be stopping back this weekend. |

This fellow has the right idea! Food. Fresh fruit and vegetables. By the train. Outdoor seating. Nice design. Genius! Hope the food's as good as the vibe. Will be visiting soon -- and telling friends and neighbors.

Hillsider - if you take a right after the place where the old schoolhouse used to be, you'll see it. I actually have no idea where that is, otherwise, I might be more helpful... |

Harrar Cafe is on village plaza. Actually if you go out the back of the new place on sloan street and keep walking straight about 100 feet you will come to it.

Sounds like Harrar is across from Garden State news. |

This must be the place to plug the new Ethiopean restaurant. Took the family there and it was real good. If you like this kind of food, go there. Its some of the best I have had. Only thing, they do not have a liquor license so its BYO. |

Went to Terrence Allen with Lynn and John Caffrey for lunch and we thouroughly enjoyed ourselves. Love the fresh fuits and veggies up front. Only negative was too loud music (loud enough to make conversation difficult) but it got turned off before we got a chance to ask if it could be turned down. Also, got a cup of coffee on the way out. Delicious! Especially nice on a stormy day like this. |

I had dinner there the other night and ran into some friends. We sat in the patio area behind the restaurant where the staff brought us wine glasses when they saw we had brought wine. The food was very, very good and it was quite nice to be dining outside in South Orange and not being on a roadway. (Yes, I know, it is on a parking lot.) We stayed until a little after they closed but no one rushed us out. I think that if before their grand opening they put in some signs explaining how the two food counters work and had a children's price for dinner, they have a real winner for commuters who want to pick up dinner to bring home or meet up with the family/ friends. (When I went in I came to a "pay before you eat" cash register with the the hot foods and burrito/wrap counters near the rear. I had to wander a bit and ask before I knew what the deal was.) On the next nice evening, get some friends and try it out. I strongly recommend trying it. (P.S. If your're sitting outside and are facing east, you can see Lot 15 / South Orange Cellar which,as per my experiences there which I had noted on MOL, has suffered its inevitable fate.) |

Went to Harrar last night & found it to be pretty good. Food was tasty, prices were reasonable & service was very good. Nothing too fancy, but it was comfortable. I hope they do well. |

Went to Terence Allen tonight and the food was great. The place looks really good. They put a lot of work into fixing it up nice. The best part of the whole thing is that it is that the chef/owner is a Columbia High School grad. |

Terrance used to come into Campus Sub quite often and tell me how he really wanted to do something on his own. It's nice to see he has finally made the leap. I think he'll do well and wish him the best. SO deserves a great place to eat and chat. |
