Will there be no parking on Vose for the next 12 months? The sign says there wil be construction on the road for the next 12 months and both sides of Vose had "no parking" signs this morning. What a mess trying to get to the post office. And how is Vose Cleaners to survive this? Is this tied to the Sterling project or is this a separate road issue? Does anyone know? |

Around here, 12 months means 36 or more. |

cmontyburns, it hardly matters what they say. What matters is what they do. And they have been lying about development and how long it will take to complete it for years. |

Which word is mis-spelled? Wouldn't the PD post such a sign? Check with them. Chief Chelel can spell approximately. jd |

Funny that signs, both literal and figurative, of development are met with sneers. What would you rather, 12 month parking and traffic changes that result in a building, or no sign, no development, and no building.

Do you mean "approximately", misspelled as "approximatly"? Or "48", misspelled as "12"? |

False signs of "progress" are met with sneers, cali..... With so many wolf stories from Calabrese, Rosen and Taylor, why believe anything they promise, say, or swear to be true? jd |

Gosh Dan, it is remarkable how quickly nature reclaims a vacant lot. Off subject I admit, unless some of the VB folks are going quail hunting. |

True signs are such as that new shopping development on Northfield in Livingston, that multi-story brick clad commercial mixed use plaza. It went up in a year or less, and is fondly known as Calabrese Plaza. I like the Rosen and Taylor wings, where so much progress was done so quickly. jd |

Progress is a sign of progress. Not five year delayed construction. It is too late for progress. Catch up is also delayed. Stop flacking for the bot'sers. "Cali6buff" stands for 6 naked Colombians? jd |

Do you mean something like giant steel supports being driven into the ground on Vose Ave for the past 2 weeks? |

A sign of progress would be if the Village were paid the $1 million front-end payment from Sterling. Have we received it yet? |

Yes, precisely. So what. Progress delayed is progress denied. Try South Orange Avenue, for starters, or enders. An eyesore for years. Ugly, imposing and the gateway to South Orange. jd |

We're not talking about SO Ave. We're talking about a complaint stemming from the fact that a sign was posted indicating a traffic and parking change, presumably to facilitate the construction of a building. And thank you Spitz for a reasonable reply. Let us check into that.

Is the Port Authority running the town development also. 5 years and no progress on construction. A real shame.

Are the steel supports being driven into the ground for a parking deck or rather to support the NJ Transit tracks and roadbed, as requested by NJ Transit? As I recall, Sterling can't obtain financing until it excavates to determine whether the contamination is worse than anticipated. Before Sterling could excavate, NJ Transit required steel beams be driven into the ground to support the roadbed. Does this mean that the Village won't receive the $1 million until Sterling has excavated? Mark? |
