The agenda for Monday's meeting is posted:
http://www.southorange.org/agenda.asp

1) Looks like this may be the final vote on the SID Tax and the Budget Hearing.

2) There is an ordinance on 2nd reading Authorizing a Special Emergency Appropriation in the Amount of $465,000 for the Reval. (I don't remember there being a FIRST reading on this)

3) An Ordinance to Create the Position of Municipal Housing Liaison for the Purpose of Administering the Township of South Orange Village’s Affordable Housing Program Pursuant to the Fair Housing Act. - Is this a full-time PAID position??

4) Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the Township of South Orange Village Expressing its Intent to Provide the Funds Necessary for the Satisfaction of the Village’s Affordable Housing Obligations. How much will THIS cost? I thought we already met our obligation.

5) Resolution Authorizing the Award of a Contract to David Abramson for Construction Phase Services for the Old Stone House. How much will THIS cost???

6) TDR Ordinance - What is this??

7) NO mention of BEIFUS?

8) NO mention about a hearing or resolution on the revised "plan" for the Tony Smith Sculpture?

I've got alot of question to ask in 3 minutes!

How about: how much money will a jury award me when they hear King Arthur Taylor or Don William Calabrese ordered the police to arrest me, when there were so many questions, the Constitution was on my side, and so little time?

Sheena-
You seem to know Roberts Rules of Order better then the BOT. Isn't there some way you can show them a copy of what you were saying the last time they stopped MHD from speaking and you wanted to give him your time? What if some of us just read the questions MHD and Joel want to ask if their time runs out? Can they stop anyone from doing that?

Only by inviting mass media scrutiny at the next meeting.

JTA, they are not interested in following rules they should, whether it is Robert Rules of Order, federal and state laws governing HUD monies and bond monies, or Generally Accepted Accounting Practices. If they don't know Robert Rules of Order, they should, and if they do, they should obey them instead of willfully thwarting them (see MHD link above).

Since they habitually thwart rules they should obey, the town has to confront its own responsibility in electing them versus alternatives that would follow all of these rules and others that would benefit rather than injure the town.

For those of you who missed the BOT Season Premiere last night:

The SID Ordinance was NOT voted on, pending further forthcoming changes.

There was a bit of a discussion about the Rug Store empty lot on South Orange Avenue - bottomline is that nothing is being done.

There was a bit of a discussion about Beifus - apparently he was sent a letter in early August with a number of conditions & deadlines to meet by early October (no specifics were given). So, I guess this makes it 30 days to Beifus-Shovel-in-the dirt-day AGAIN??? (for the 5th time!)

The Supermarket property was briefly mentioned and supposedly they are having a meeting TODAY to receive a schedule for how the construction will proceed.

Shocking how much progress has been made over the Summer, huh?

I think the part I loved the best about the meeting was the talk about Parking for SOPAC.
It is opening Nov 3rd and just now they are just now getting around to looking at doing some parking studies. I also heard that they were now going to make SOPAC talk with private parking lot owners about seeing if people could park in their lots. This thing has been like 6 years in the making. Why are we just now getting around to parking issues? Anyone who lives in South Orange could have told you was going to be a problem from the start.

One part I missed was the "Budget Hearing". Did it take place? If so, what is our municipal tax increase this year?

The budget hearing was postponed till the next meeting (10/25). We are going to have a "final budget workshop" next Monday after we meet with the board of health.

Hey...looks like the OLD MOL still works.

For the sake of continuity, here are some video clips from the BOT Meeting on Sept 11:
