Who would like to see an Amazing Hot Dogs open here in South Orange? When I heard they had thoughts about opening a location in a college town I called and spoke to one of the owners. I suggested they consider South Orange. If there is an empty store on the Ave near the campus they will consider my suggestion. Does anyone know if there are any vacant stores? Maybe Sheena or one of the other students could poll the student body if they'd be willing to walk a couple of blocks on South Orange Ave or even Irvington Ave for some of these great dogs! After reading about Amazing Hot Dogs on MOL and how good they were I decided to go see for myself one night after visiting my sister in Verona. I got mine with only catsup, my friend had a bunch of different thing. Both of us thought they were very good! Very big and plump and juicy! |

Maybe the store front on the avenue where the Quiznos was going to be? I know we'd be regulars, we drove to Verona for our first Amazing Hot Dog experience last week and the whole thing has made my significant other live in a constant state of wistfulness: "If it weren't so far, I could totally go for a hotdog with an egg on it right now...." "Maybe tomorrow we can go back to the hotdog place, I'd really like one with..." |

OMG! NO, please! If they start selling deep fried bacon wrapped hot dogs in South Orange, I'll end up weighing 500 lbs! |

For the record, the S-L's MunchMobile final 2006 judging named Amazing Hot Dogs as Jersey's "Best Deep Fried", and Syd's (probably destined to move from it's Vauxhall location at lease renewal time, according to the owner) as "Best Grilled" dogs. -s. BTW: So far, South Orange doesn't seem to be in serious contention for either AHD's #2 location or Syd's next home, so consider this scenario: Since (A) both places buy their wares from Best Provisions http://www.bestprovision.com/ in Newark (and so can you), and since (2) there's really no magic in either the deep-fry or grilling processes, what's to keep some smart SOMA entrepreneur (like maybe Town Hall Deli!?) from creating a local outlet? They could call it, say... "Jersey Devil-Dogs" or "Fun on a Bun", or "Hot Diggety's", or "Wiener World", or "Local Links", or "Coney Maronie's", or "Frankophile's", or... |
