Is it true that John Gross is both Administrator and Chief Financial Officer for the Village. If so, whatever happened to checks and balances.

He is also the Treasurer and current "partner" of sitting Trustee Theroux.

This topic has been discussed here many times...although nobody within Village Hall has publicly expressed any concerns with this arrangement.

is he really the deputy oem coordinator? i did not know that, that is a significant conflict of interest.

in a crisis situation the village adminisrator could feasibly be calling the shots? i only say this because the OEM coordinator is the fire cheif and if there is one or more fires i assume he would be occupied.

e roberts,
The Emergency Management coordinator is Bill Calabrese because he is the only one that lives in the village. John Gross is a Deputy OEM Coordinator and so is Anthony Grenci both share the 10,000.00

Why would they need to purchase or lease a new durango...they are overpriced...why couldn't Mr Gross save us some tax dollars and settle for one of those out of service police cars that other town employees are forced to drive...It would already have the lights, sirens, and radio equipment.

I assume that he is allowed to take that car to and from work. So does the town cover his gas bill to.

Lord...

This is outrageous. What are his qualifications? Did he take some B.S. course or certification somewhere?

I think Mr. Gross had the Durango before he was named Deputy OEM coordinator; it went with the administrator's job.

Does Mr.Gross still live in Monmouth County and if so, does the Village pay the fuel costs of commuting?

Township Administrators are typically provided with a municipal vehicle 24/7- that's pretty standard. Many also are designated OEM personnel because it boosts their pay at no expense to the town via FEMA money.

i dont believe barbara sachs had a municipal car. I dont believe joe d'arco had a muniicipal car. John gross did not have municipal when he was first hired. ithink he negatiated for it when his contract was up.......

Maybe he likes the MG plates.......Might help him out of a traffic violation once n a while...

BOY...he sure does have those "IRISH CHEEKS"

Brett - I'm aware administrators are provided with municipal vehicles. I was really questioning whether the Village pays the fuel costs of commuting - if so, I don't think Durango's are known for their fuel efficiency.

For the record, I personally have found Mr. Gross to be helpful and responsive anytime I've had dealings with him.

Mr. D'Arco definitely had a car- you can check past budgets. Ms. Sachs did not, but then she was hired from "in-house" with no previous experience. Messrs. D'Arco and Gross were courted away from other administrator posts.

The choice of vehicles is more open to debate, but Durango is one that the State procured through contract bid. The purchase price is much lower, which may off-set its fuel inefficiency. It may also be that the use of Emergency Management funds to buy the vehicle may limit your choices. I'm only guessing.

Your knowledge in these matters is always appreciated. A lot of times it is quite helpful in explaining things.
