Anyone else on this train? There is one conductor who is unlike anything I have encountered in 10 years on NJ Transit. He is rude and nasty when passengers get on the train, and he is threatening when the train arrives in Penn Station. Today -- he is yelling about "don't reboard" -- starts closing the doors. There were at least 20 of us still getting off the train. Those of us in the 1st or 2nd car -- there is NO faster way to get off! This morning the train stopped right by the stair -- and there was no way to get off. Other mornings -- he's threatened to close the doors and take us all to the yard in Queens. I called NJT to complain -- got a very sympathetic ear at least. If you know what I'm talking about -- consider calling and complaining -- 1-800-772-2222 /p

It used to not be so packed, but the last month or so it is pretty much full when it stops at South Orange. I complained to NJ Transit and was told that they are in "the transportation business" and therefore make no promise of a seat for those who ride. Recently there has barely even been room to stand, and the customer service person snottily suggested that I try sitting in the middle seat on the three-seaters, as if those aren't full already!!! Totally awful service on the train recently. I dread getting on every morning. |

Agreed, for the past several weeks this train has become overcrowded, to the point where there are no seats, not even middle seats, to sit, if you wanted to. In fact, it was so crowded on Tuesday, I had to stand, that the conductor must have felt sorry for us and didn't even ask for tickets, so obviously not the same guy peteglider is referring to. Actually took the 8:05 to Hoboken today, then PATH and it took about the same time as the 8:22, with all the delays in boarding and exiting that train.

From the way you describe him, this has to be the same conductor who used to be on the train I took into NYC. (I have a job locally now, so thankfully don't have to deal with him.) He is extremely rude and an unpleasant addition to an already hectic commute. Good Luck! |

I find that NJ transit responds best when you write a letter to the star ledger Then the right people call you...

Try walking to the back of the train. The last 2 cars generally have plenty of seats. It just takes awhile to get there, given the short platform and long train. |
