As I did in an earlier post last year (http://www.southorangevillage.com/cgi-bin/show.cgi?tpc=3133&post=194322#POST1943 22), I thought it would be interesting to take a look at Meeting Minutes of 2004 to see how much progress has been made on the Shop Rite & Beifus sites. Unfortunately, the results aren't pretty. Here's to hoping we have SOME progress in 2005. Happy New Year!

Shop Rite
June 14: Shop-Rite site – the façade of the building has been changed and a new partner, Stirling Homes, has come on board with construction to begin in September.
Sept 20: Shop Rite – Plans have been revised to reduce the number of residential floors on Vose Avenue from four to three and the developer will be asking for approval of the revised plans at a special Planning Board meeting this week
Oct 13: the former Shop-Rite building is being cleaned out by the new developer with an exciting announcement to be made shortly

Beifus
January 12: Beifus is doing site preparation and a developer’s agreement is to be signed soon
Feb 9: Mr. Beifus is still seeking certain tax relief which the Board is discussing
April 12: the pilot agreement with Beifus is being negotiated
May 10: Mr. Beifus is going to receive bids on May 14th for his construction and he hopes to have his final developer’s agreement ready to submit to the Trustees for consideration at the May 24th meeting. The project includes retail space on the ground level and 60 apartments above.
July 19: Village President Calabrese stated that by September, there should be “a lot of movement in the downtown area.” [this one was really my favorite]
Oct 13: with regard to the Beifus site, there will be an announcement made within two weeks.

Hey Rudy, We should actually meet each other; maybe minutes before the show on the 14th of May. We need to be clear with certain concert dates. I originally had Oct. 13th @ S.O. Vacuum in writing w/ the owner without any opening act. Absolutely understandable, Question? Why is it every time I go to WE GOT MOVIES I see Vinny/Vanessa- FUNK DAT!
