i'd like to know who decides what is offensive in posts....if i post something that in no way is offensive to me, or other people that its addressed to. the moderators delete my posts and suspend my ip....(i bet i'm suspened for this thread as well) it seems that if u r not buddy buddy with the town officals or people that moderate this sight you automaticaly get scrutinized. |

Katie - This should probably be in Tech Support, Please Help, or Soapbox. Dave and Jamie graciously run this site on their own and are not connected with any town officials in any way (to my knowledge). Sorry if you're offended by what's considered offensive. |

Threatening to tar and feather elected officials is pretty offensive but the moderators didn't suspend those posters. If they were really buddy buddy with town officals I would suspect those posts would either be deleted or posters suspended. The moderators really try to take a hands off approach unless the posts are really agregious. |

Threatening someone with "tarring and feathering" is pretty obviously hyperbole, as is throwing someone into the Duck Pond. Probably not polite, but I doubt if anyone so threatened would take the post seriously. On the other hand posting that you know where someone lives or threatening to punch them out is probably not acceptable, although one of the posters on this board does this regularly. |

Yes, Katie, please tell us when you were ever suspended. As for others who may share your computer, yes, I will delete pictures I think are offensive or in the wrong topic (eg recent goofy photo in the recipe section). Some areas need to remain informational. There are lots of ways to be clever with Photoshop, but it typically doesn't require insulting people or local businesses. ps. Don't think I've ever had a face to face conversation with any town officials other than Patrick Joyce, so not getting that comment. |

Bobk..Why is threatening to dump someone in the pond hyperbole while threatening to punch them not? Do you really think either event would really happen? They are both offensive, crude and wrong. The moderators have enough to do, we shouldn't add to their burden with even the slightest appearance of innapropriate behaviors. |

LL, you may be correct. However, to me threatening to throw some on into the Duck Pond, referred to as the Muck Pond, seems pretty far fetched if only because of the difficulty if getting the victim to that location, while a punch in the nose seems up close and personal. |

What I am "offended" by is the very frequent use of nasty words spelled with the help of *******s The word picture is still planted in the reader's mind. It is sophomoric when the English language has such delightful words to use in their place! (Sorry, I'm reading Tom Wolfe's latest, ) Oh, I also wince at the frequent, gratuitous use of the Lord's name. I don't think these posters should be banned for acting juvenile, however. Just sent to the principal's office on occasion. |

1. Italians like water spouts for reasons I cant list...(been banned 3 times, sorry) 2. Green Giants son is a Brussel Sprout due to genetic default. 3. Contrary to common belief, the basis of Sauerkraut did not originate in Germany. It actually dates back to c200 B.C. China where the workers building the Great Wall of China ate it as a supplement to their normal diet which consisted mainly of rice. Admittedly, it was made with wine at that time, but nevertheless, it was the origin of today's recipe. It is believed that Genghis Khan is responsible for the introduction of sauerkraut to Europe in the 13th Century when he used it to feed his troops during their raids in Eastern Europe. From there it spread to other countries including Germany, where it is now a traditional and popular dish eaten as an accompaniment or used as an added ingredient in recipes. 4. SODA is a girl, I think. 5. DJ Stout is NOT the best beer at Gaslight, they all stink...trick question |

So does Angus' gender identification. But then, he's so young, with such a short attention span... -s. BTW: For the record, I do not pout. I throw hissy fits. |
