Snow up to the crub in the Montrose area of South Orange. Can't believe there are people out there driving!

I'm in West Orange, and about 2 hours ago, got a Reverse 911 call from the township with 3 reminders - 1) remove parked cars from street 2) if in an alternate side of the street parking zone, keep cars in Saturday mode until Sunday evening; and 3 ) STAY OFF THE ROADS. Is anyone out shoveling every 2 hours, or do most wait until it is all over with before you attempt to clear it. ? |

What's the point of shoveling now if it is going to snow all night and then the wind is going to blow it all around anyway? Might as well wait and come outside late tomorrow (along with all the neighbors) to get the job done. Although, due to the aforementioned wind, I have a feeling that it may need to be redone somewhat on Monday. |

Yes, I too am surprised so many people are out shoveling, especially since it's still snowing at a heavy clip.

Actually, it is best to shovel early and often. Below is a link to some shoveling tips: http://www.startribune.com/stories/1608/5193332.html

Shoveling early and often only works if the snow isn't going to blow right back again. Extemely high winds promised for this evening into tomorrow morning would undo any work you attempted just now. Far better to wait until the shoveling is more productive. |
