Hi. We moved to South Orange in July last year. Does S.O. send out tax statements? Should I have it already? Is this the same or different than the green post card I received that says "Notice of Property Tax Assessment for 2005"? It does have the total paid for 2004, but it doesn't say for tax purposes or have 1098 on it. THanks! |

You can call the Tax Collector at (973) 378-7715 Ext. 7732 to find out what you owe. I believe the "Notice of Propety Tax Assessment" is simply for tax purposes to show how much you paid LAST YEAR. |

If you pay your property taxes through your mortgage you would not receive any notification from the town; the bank receives the notice and the bank pays the taxes. If, for some reason, you pay your property taxes yourself, you should receive a notice from the town. |

You shoudl still get some type of statement from the town if your bank pays -- I know I do. Just make sure you sitting down when you do get the statement. |

Thanks everyone. I actually pay directly to the town, so I would be receiving it. I should clarify though -- I meant does South Orange send out a 1098 or similar statement for Income Tax Return purposes? If so, have you all already received yours? Thanks! |
