Hi all. I'm looking for suggestions on pediatricians in the area to treat a newborn. |

I highly recommend my sister of Cranford Pediatrics. Tell her Pizzaz sent you, she'll chuckle over that one. Seriously, she is Stanford educated and Board Certified and in practice for over 20 years. IMHO, she's brilliant. Her practice is based mostly out of Overlook Hospital in Summit. Office # 908-276-5276. |

I use Drs. Gruenwald, Commandatore, Sterio, Miller, and Alexander. I gave birth to my second child last month and all of the doctors in the practice visited me and the baby while we were in the hospital. They are located at 90 Millburn Avenue in Millburn 973-378-7990. |

Donald Cotler, MD on Millburn Ave in Millburn is a great doc. He is sensitive and down to earth. Returns phone calls and talks to people like a physician should. He works at both Overlook and St. Barnabus. |

Commandatore, no doubt about it. She has three kids herself and is very down to earth. Last week my 5 month old started barking like a seal and the office staff got me in quickly and it took commandatore about 15 seconds to send me to the hospital with my croupy baby. She had called ahead, they were expecting us and knew about his problem and we were treated and realeased quickly. Not the usual emergency room horror story at all and it was because of her. Plus they see sick kids on both saturday and sunday morning so that's pretty reassuring. |

Thanks so much everyone. Is Commandatore affiliated with St Barnabas? |

Commandatore is affiliated with St Barnabas. We love the practice, but lately they have been overcrowded, waiting for over half an hour after they bring you into the "doctors room" |

Thanks. Will check all of the above out. Also want to ask docs their thoughts about vaccines (lots of new ones that don't all sound like they are needed) and potential dangers with them. I recently sat in on a lecture on the possible link between autism and some mercury-containing vaccines - scary stuff. |

Don't get to worked up over the vaccine stuff. Obviously, use common sense and due diligence in recording batch numbers etc. I now have three kids 4,8 and 11. We still love Dr.s Gruenwald and Commandatore. I went out of my mind worrying about the vaccines back in '94 with our first child. Oddly enough after doing my research (and weeding out the alarmist articles) we even decided to be one of the first families to recieve the new chicken pox vaccine. After some of the pain and suffering that I went on to see in other unvaccinated children I never regretted our decision. (If there had been a problem, I felt like we had all the info we needed to track down the evil vaccine.) |
