Got a sample ballot in the mail yesterday for 2005 School Election to the board. Does anyone know any of the candidates or where we can find some info?

For starters, check these web sites:
Mila Jasey
Mark Miller
Brian O'Leary

I'll let others tell you about the others.

See the banner at the top of the forum page for links to all of the candidate websites. Then browse the education topics, at your own risk.

I would have been tempted to suggest supporting O'Leary, Miller & Jasey, too.

Although, in today's News Record is a huge ad with about 200 residents endorsing Jasey & Miller. Included on that list is Calabrese, Taylor & Steglitz - reason enough to NOT vote for these people. However, ironically enough Patrick Joyce is on the same list.

Hmmm....now I'm torn on what to do. Maybe I'll JUST vote for Brian O'Leary to be safe. I dunno.

MHD, I get the feeling that if Calabrese & Steglitz called for a tax cut, you'd vote against it just to be contrarian.

I'd bet that at least one, if not all of those you despise voted for the same presidential candidate as you. Does that mean you should have voted differently?

Don't cut off your nose to spite you face.

MHD, the endorsements of Steglitz, Calabrese, Taylor AND Joyce show that this is NOT about party affiliation. Maybe all 4 of them are thinking that Mila and Mark have done and will continue to do a good job. Secondarily, should Jasey, Miller, and O'Leary be defeated, only Lynn Crawford will be left to represent the interests of South Orange on the BOE.

Rastro,

The only tax cuts Steglitz & Calabrese & Taylor have ever voted for were tax cuts for DEVELOPERS.

But, that's besides the point.

L'Angelo - Are Miller, Jasey & O'Leary the only candidates from South Orange? If so, I did not realize that and that might explain the widespread endorsements.

I think Mr Welsh might also be from S.O.
