T took a drive down my old block to see the redevelopment progress and the gating of the Side streets on Wilden Place, and I got a disgraceful look at the property at #366...If anyone wants to view the absolutely disgraceful appearance of what I assume is a property with an absentee landlord this is it. The side yard has been turned into a 10 car driveway, and there was garabage everywhere from property line to property line. I'm surprised the village allowed a homeowner to convert the entire yard of a property into parking for more then 10 vehicles for a single family home?

The next time the code enforcment people are out harassing some homeowner about a crack in their sidewalk, I think I shall scream out "366 Wilden, get there STAT!" |

After reading the oringinal post I decided to look at the property mentioned. It looks very clean. Note: I saw this yesterday afternoon about a day before your post Matt. I hope this property stays well kept. Maybe the town should mandate that the landlords pay for regular upkeep of the property which would include grass cutting, leave/snow removal... beer cans etc. They did it with trash disposal why not here as well. |

Upon reading the original post I decided to look at the property and I must say your original statement was grossly exaggerated Old and Gray. The house is on a main street with heavy foot traffic on its way to Ivy Hill. School age children walk by and drop trash all along that route. There are many other houses on that street who have lawns that are not well maintained but failed to make it to your post. In reference to the second post saying that the town shouldn’t harass other residents because of the shape the property in question is in is also off base. It seems your looking for a scapegoat to blame all the problems that South Orange has on this one property. You fail to mention where you live so that we can drive by and see what a perfect residence should look like. We as residents of South Orange, New Jersey should be building each other up and not tearing each other down. We all have pride for South Orange and to nit pick on our fellow neighbors is not the way to attract people to this fine town. |

Isn't Wilden the street that runs along the property of SHU with Seton Place, Eder Terrace and College Place? I thought there were only a few houses on that street. A friend lives in Ivy Hill, and I use to know someone on Seton Place. I would think with the streets blocked, and the fence around SHU, there wouldn't be much foot traffic. I usually don't see people walking around that area when picking my friend up. (By Ivy Hill is another story) |

Yeh I go to the wallgreens over there quite often and I always see Seton Hall employees as well as younger children walking down the street. Its the most direct walking route to Ivy Hill from South Orange Ave. |

Hey Joe Krause- A little tongue in cheek humor has never gotten by you. I do not live in that neighborhood. I have never seen that property. I do have a problem with the code enforcement people for their seemingly random acts of kindness. I have also never had the code folk do anything to my property, however, they seem to nitpick peeps I know and leave unpainted, dilapidated houses alone. I can give you an address of a specific example, but do to your relative inexperience here at MOL...methinks not! ps:my home & HUGE lawn are a perfect 10. Enjoy being an idiot in your neighborhood. Thankfully ,you do not live near me. |

Well I'm sorry my relative inexperience of sitting on a message board and posting hundreds of posts does not impress you but it seems that you have a lot of time on your hands. You have posted over 185 different messages on a board for a town you don’t live in. All the time could have been invested into your “perfect 10” lawn in the town you won’t mention. When your post sounds like a second grade student developed it I feel you need to reassess who’s the idiot in this situation. I'm just thankful you don't live near me. |

So are you saying the landlord had since turned the side yard back into a grassed side yard...you have no issues with turning a side lawn into a 12 car parking lot for a residential home? And yes the front of the residence has seen the garbage and trash policed since I posted regarding the house. I could list numerous others, but I used to live on the street and the houses numbers stood out and it stuck in my head. |

O&G: what do you care whether or not the owner of a house has converted a useless strip of grass into additional parking for its residents? What is the problem with this if it affects no one besides the people who want it that way? It is not an eyesore to the community nor is it any of your business! |
