My friend and I went here for lunch today. It is so comfortable, we relaxed and read a little from their book collection. I talked with the staff who told me the restaurant is definitely NOT closing. It has already been sold and the new owner is only making minor decorative changes. The menu and staff basically will remain the same. I, for one am happy to hear this. Our meals were delicious ! |

I love the coffee at The Goat better than at Starbucs or Dunkin Doughnuts |

I've been there a few times and always liked the food and the art/entertainment. I certainly hope this place stays around since it is a great performance space and whoever did the booking seemed to have good taste. |

User, don't the above posts say that the Goat has changed hands but will continue in business? Did I miss something? |

It's hard for this type of place to turn a profit. The sale of the place, however, is not evidence of failure or success. We can only speculate. |

Maybe good community businesses that are struggling should be considered for PILOTS before we give them to large contractors in locations that are highly desireable. |

Thanks Tom and MJC. For a fact the Dancing Goat is not closing just simply changing hands. The soon to be new owner, who is also a Maplewood resident, has no intentions of changing the staff nor the shop or menu (barring a few additions). From what i've heard we should only expect more from the Dancing Goat by way of great coffee, lots of entertainment and activities for kids and live entertainment in the evenings for adults. The change over is expected to take place sometime around mid June. Until then 'Drink More Coffee' |

I walked by the other morning at 10 am, and it wasn't open. They should have morning hours. |

Mrs T: Not sure they want to compete with the 2 bagel shops, starbucks, dunkin donuts and cait & abby's for the morning crowd. Seems a bit saturated as it is.
