JOSO --I am trying to see if there are any pictures published yet. There is a 1750 Farm House, an 1850 Victorian House, an Arts and Crafts House, a Center Hall Colonial. Seven houses in all. I will post more information as I get it. |

Here are some drawings of the houses that are going to be on the tour. They are by artist Paula Magone.

Please I wish there was a trolley for this house tour just like they have for Montrose in May. There many people including myself that do not drive. The trolley makes it so much easier to get around to all the houses on the tour. In fact I wish all house tours use trolley to get the people from house to house on the tour. Please I would love to here from others on how they feel about a trolley for this tour and for all house tours. |

Debra: The Historic Society decided to make their Historic Tour walkable and selected houses in close proximity. One of the purposes of the tour was to introduce people to the neighborhood by walking down the historic, beautiful tree lined streets. The tour is only of a small portion of the Prospect Area. The Historic Society is planning on having a tour of different areas of South Orange every other year. |

It should be an enjoyable walk...there are many gardens along the way for viewing, including the triangle at Prospect/Garfield/Tichenor which is planted/maintained by various folks in the area. |

I'm looking forward to the house tour. I really like the Montrose area, but I think it's a great idea to highlight other areas of town. Best wishes to Mary Kay and everyone helping out with the tour. Dust Buster - I understand copies of antique maps will be available for purchase. Is this true? This thread might be better suited for the general "Arts & Entertainment" area.(?) |

Parker: Yes copies of the antique maps will be on sale. I have started a new thread on the "Arts & Entertainment" area. Thank you for your suggestion. Continuation of this thread can be seen there. |

Dust Buster Yes this years tour was fine for walking. I have been on many house tours where a car was necessary to get to all the house on the tour. The house were not in walking distance of each other. They were blocks apart from each other. I do not drive, because I'm legally blind. I have been very lucky to have a friend that drives that wanted to go with me. Now she is get old and soon may not be able to drive. That is why I wish this tour and others house tours would use a trolley to get you from one house to the next like they do on Montrose tour. There may be older people that want to go on the tours, but may find the walking to be to much for them. |
