For those of you who take the train into Penn NY I just heard on 101.5 there are probems with Midtown Direct.

The following information is from NJ Transit Website:

NJ TRANSIT ADJUSTS TRAIN SCHEDULES FOLLOWING PORTAL BRIDGE FIRE

Cross-honoring in effect; customers advised to expect delays
May 13, 2005 2:30 a.m.

NEWARK, NJ – NJ TRANSIT expects to operate most of its trains on their regular departure times today, however MidTOWN DIRECT trains will operate to Hoboken Terminal. NJ TRANSIT advises customers to expect delays this morning as trains operating over the Portal drawbridge will be required to stop before proceeding across at slower than normal speeds.

While Amtrak advises that there was no structural damage, crews have worked through the night repairing extensive damage to the railroad’s signal system following a fire on the bridge spanning the Hackensack River. While repairs to the signal system continue, most Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line trains are expected to operate on their normal schedules, however customers should go to www.njtransit.com as certain trains may be cancelled or their schedules adjusted.

Also, to relieve congestion in Hoboken Terminal, 13 Morris & Essex and 10 Montclair-Boonton line trains will be cancelled. To accommodate customers affected by the cancelled trains, other Morris and Essex Line trains will make additional stops. Customers are also advised that there will be NO service to Newark or New York from Secaucus Junction this morning.

The Corporation urges commuters to give themselves extra travel time, and to expect delays traveling into or out of New York. NJ TRANSIT will continue to cross honor tickets with NJ TRANSIT bus, and several private carriers including Lakeland, DeCamp, Academy, and Suburban. NJ TRANSIT tickets will be honored on NY Waterway Ferry in Hoboken, and PATH in Newark and Hoboken.
