To state the obvious... Allan Rosen is not going to resign. In all likelihood, Allan Rosen won't commit a high crime or misdemeanor that would be grounds for a recall vote. Best we can do is prod Mr. Rosen to do the right thing going forward, starting with reconsidering the committee assignments in a manner consistent with the ideal process he set forth in his posting earlier on this thread. The same goes for our new Trustees. Whether we agree or disagree with the voters who put them in office, we can work to help them see the issues as we see them and encourage them to be true Village Independents. Give them a chance to get it right...we'll know quickly just how beholden they are to Calabrese et al. |

Okay, is everyone done trying to make this man (who has served the South Orange community for over a decade) feel like crap?... probably not Go to the next BOT meeting and express your concern about this. Let's see if Rosen will bring the topic back up... |

Allan Rosen "jumped the shark" when he sided with Taylor, Steglitz & Theroux to make John Gross administrator for life. He has said this will be his last term as Trustee. We should thank him for his centuries of service, take him at his word that he is leaving in 2007 & hold him to it. |

If Allan is truly not running in 2007, then all the more reason for him to vote/act his conscience (assuming he can find it), rather than getting wrapped in these silly games. |

Sheena, it looks like you're basing a good job done on the amount of time one has served. I would bet most of the people on MOL would have to disagree with you and would rather see new blood than Allan's old. I don't think he deserves praise because he has been on the BOT so long, he would deserve praise for a job well done and right now I can't think of a single job well done by trustee Rosen |

Well as we've seen, MOL isn't reflective of S.O. Being reelected as many times as Allan has, obviously the majority (plurality) has spoken enough times. Unless your contention is that all these voters are misinformed... All this stuff about '07... two years away is quite a while and a lot can change. |

sheena regardless of what rosen does next week can not change with what he did this past monday. The decision he made to be involved with this mess is his own doing. I could care less in what he does on monday....unless if he resigns. Rosner for president in 07 our only hope!

User: Your sentiment is a bit too desperate to be taken seriously. "Our only hope"? -s. BTW: All of you: Mark has some thinking to do between now and then, and you should try to do some yourselves. If I were Mr. Rosner, I'd think twice about running if my most vocal supporters came off as true believers, extremists, and zealots. |

User. Mr. Rosner is doing a good job as Trustee, and I like what he does, and what he writes here and in his weblog. If you, his self-appointed campaign manager, continue reminding us that he wants to run for President in 2007, you are coloring everything that he says or does as just more of the political campaign bulls--t that precedes an election. You are not helping. |

I get you. But Mark is doing a very good job on this forum, much better than Taylor, and without your help. Better you spend your time campaigning for Mark in other circles. Just a friendly advice. |

Don't get me wrong, I think very highly of Mark but maybe the better suggestion is to be as critical of him as we are with everyone else & then decide whether or not to support him as it gets closer to time... There's a lot of votes that will take place between now and '07. A lot of things change with time and I think it's jumping the gun to rally support for something that's two years away...

I agree with everyone's posts about the great presidential race of 2007. Please, let's stick to the current issues. As I said in another thread, I thank Mark for speaking out honestly on a meeting in which I had a similar view of what occurred. I will be much more hands on and plan to attend at least one trustee meeting per month, more if possible. I am a fair and impartial human being who posted and voted strictly on the information presented by each candidate and, yes, I favored a longtime personal friend. He has helped me without question countless times during some very difficult situations in my life, and never passed judgement. And I know that he's done the same for many other people/volunteer organizations/schools/churches/recreation teams/friends/patrons of his restaurant. And he was publicly and forcefully assaulted, without warning, by then-current South Orange trustees. In my book, that makes him all the more valuable as a potential Trustee. |

Sheena, You are relatively new to this forum. People are very critical of Mark when they disagree with him. if there is one thing that descibes MOL'ers, it's... um... outspoken. Sometimes a bit too otspoken, but outspoken nonetheless. Dr. Rosen has been lauded on MOL and reviled. I believe many people here were hoping that with the changes in the board, Dr. Rosen would lean more toward the light, and less toward the dark side (sorry, SWIII:RotS is out as of *now*) To a lot of people here, this was the proverbial straw... I do envy you your idealism. I wish I were not as cynical as I've become. |

Rastro, You're awesome. I think outspoken can be equated to honest which works just fine with me. Don't worry about being cynical... I don't think you're as bad as Soda (oh kidding... ) I think Trustee Rosen will surprise us on Monday night... |

Rosen helped Calabrese start the new administration off on a very bad note, with his support of a bad meeting, followed by his attempt to claim it should have been otherwise. I'm very frustrated, but I'm also very willing to open my arms to Trustee Rosen (metaphorically speaking) if he changes his ways and makes his actions in meetings match his beliefs as stated online. Actions, not words. I'm also willing to come to love our line C trustees if they act in the interest of the town, with open minds and a willingness to question the more senior trustees and Village President, and to create a less divisive atmosphere that the current one. Actions to match the words that they ran on. Mark Rosner will take criticism when he deserves it, but this week he gets my praise for protesting a non-democratic behind-closed-doors process, both during the meeting and after it. I only hope he has a stonger role than gadfly in meetings to come! The good news for Calabrese, Rosen, Taylor and line C is that my opinions really will shift substantially if I see a shift to open, inclusive, non-political behavior. (I'm perhaps less cynical than I should be...) Otherwise, I become a more active member of their opposition, and begin looking to 2007 sooner than I'd like. I've got my copy of Monday's meeting, and won't be taping over it for quite a while, in case I need to remind anyone how it looked (I've already put one copy in the mail...). I'll either be attending or watching meetings to come. |

Sheena you still seem to miss the big picture. Rosen's decision on Monday...a decision that seems to be upsetting many people here is the decision he made as a trustee in our town. This is who he is this is how he acts. I do not wish to wait to see what he does on Monday. I do not care what he does on Monday. He is not a newly appointed trustee. He new exactly what he was doing. I voted for him last go around and right now I am not pleased with his ability to make decisions for our town. |
