Wow, that doesn't seem to make much sense to me to move it to Duckpond. Parking there can be literally impossible especially since the adult school kids summer program will be at SOM this year. It's too bad it couldn't be in the back of the trainstation as it was in year's past. I guess construction is the reason why? |

There's plenty of parking in the SO middle school lot (kids don't drive). Go to the pool, shop for dinner. It's a great location. Plus, it's easier for me to walk to now. |

I agree; that's an awful spot. It was great to hop off the train and stop on the way home from work. |

Last year it was on 1st Street in front of Cryan's - that whole area (Sloan St. circle) is hard enough to navigate through when the street's not blocked off. I personally think it's great move. |

This just ain't gonna work. It is way too far out of the mainstream traffic, both train, foot and car and parking is impossible. Sure I can walk from the library but do I really want to carry all the stuff I want to buy back? It should be rethought. |

I am heartbroken at the location change. It was a bright spot of my commuting life that I could shop at the farmer's market on my way home from the train, and now that is gone?! By the time I get home and get in the car and drive to the duckpond, the Farmer's Market will be over if it still ends at 7pm. I was so looking forward to the Farmer's Market again this year. Alas, I will certainly not be able to enjoy it as much now...

Dave I know kids don't drive but parents picking them up/dropping them off will impact parking. ALso, the duck pond kindergarten program is housed at the duck pond. Hopefully the hours won't conflict with parents picking up those kids too. However , I realize there may not be another place to put the market with all the contruction or lack there of - taking place in town. |

The construction at the firehouse is why they had to move it this year. Assuming the new location is not as good for most, they will consider moving it back to 1st street. I guess for some the new location is better, for others not as good. |

What an insane idea to move it out of downtown. It is one of the few signs of life there. |

Main Street South Orange was asked by the Village and the Parking Authority to relocate, from First Street, the Main Street South Orange Farmers Market to accommodate ongoing renovations to the fire house, planned work on the Sloan & First Streets shopper parking lot, and the anticipated, resulting demands that will be placed on already strained downtown parking. Every conceivable, alternative location in the central business district was considered and reconsidered, including private property. In the final analysis, a great location was identified and selected at Meadowland Park Duck Pond, where the MSSO Farmers Market will be located along the pathway traversing the park between South Orange Middle School and Mead Street – east of the pond and west of the river, just over the bridge from the Community Pool, nearby tennis courts, and playground. This new location provides plenty of space for farmers and shoppers, a wonderful setting, and convenient access from downtown, the middle school, the park, the pool, and surrounding neighborhoods. While this location unfortunately is less convenient for rail commuters exiting the station, Main Street South Orange invites all commuters and residents to stop by our new market location, patronize our farmers, and continue to make the MSSO Farmers Market among the most successful markets in New Jersey. The MSSO Farmers Market starts Wednesay, July 6th, and will continue every Wednesday through October, open to shoppers 2:30pm to 7:00pm. Additional information can be found at http://www.mainstreetsouthorange.org/news.php.

Since your Old and Gray, did ya' hear they closed the Shop Rite four years ago? Something about not making enough money and not wanting to fix up the place, and all that talk about one of them fancy gourmet markets coming to town. |

Wow...you got me on that one...I was referring to the one in Millburn, or Livingston, or West Orange. I do dust off the glasses and venture out of town in my horse and buggy once in a while. |
