Allan, back in the early part of this year you reported that a report from "Professional Jersey Management" would be forthcoming on the feasibility of shared services between South Orange and Maplewood. Would you comment on the progress and if there will be a presentation shortly now that it is past the primary elections. Thanks |

As I reported last night, I expect the Shared Services Committee to begin meeting again as soon as Fred Profeta gets back from vacation. And the I expect the report to be released, possibly before the end of the month. |

Allan: Do we need a master plan as explained by Eric last evening or is piecemeal development the way to go? |

Is this report from an indendent consultancy (and if so, did the towns split the bill?). I'm curious -- perhaps it makes sense to share "back office" between the 2 towns -- but how about even more broadly? If this kind of shared service is more economical when split between 2 towns -- how about including other neighboring Essex County towns that are about our size, too? Pete |

John, I agree as this was one of our campaign platforms. I think it would make more sense that we begin using the term "strategic plan" rather than "Master Plan" which has statutory definitions. Once we have a defined Strategic Plan/Vision (who we are and what we want to be) it can then be addressed in a Master Plan. |
