A little old Yorkie terrier was brought into the JAC Shelter on Friday by Maplewood Animal Control. After examination by shelter staff, she was taken to the hospital for immediate treatment. If anyone lost their little Yorkie, she is old and needs her family. Please come for her at the shelter. I find it hard to believe that someone isn't missing this little precious dog. |

WOW Mary- I think I saw a poster somewhere in the past few days about a lost Yorkie somewhere. And that it needed meds. I'm trying to remember where. |

Mary- I remembered where I saw a sign. It was Mount Plesant Animal Shelter. I called them to ask about it and they told me the dog they have a sign about is a terrier, but not a Yorkie. Sorry. Hope you find it's family. |

Thanks for trying. The dog is in good hands. Someone is fostering the dog and giving it medication until the 7 day holding period is up. This poor thing is blind, her tongue sticks out. She is so needy, she is cute!!!! |

Please what dose the 7 day holding pried mean? Please keep this dog and exhaust every means possible to find the dog's owner before you do anything rash. I'm 99% positive that someone is out there looking for their beloved little dog. |

South Orange Nanny I think those signs are for the same dog I saw a sign for at the Mount Pleasant Shelter. Or they could be for Bert. Mary -Is the dog you have a whitish dog? If so, that's the color of the dog on the poster in East Hanover. Maybe you can call them to be sure? I called this afternoon, but they told me it wasn't a Yorkie. They could be wrong? |

Debra, JAC is a nokill shelter so I am sure you don't have to worry about them doing anything "rash". I'm not sure but it sound like after 7 days of trying to locate the owner, the animal is put up for adoption. |

Library Lady you are so right. We do not kill ANY animal except if it necessary to end their suffering. We have an old timer at the shelter who could not walk when he was brought in to us, but with meds he is getting around and does not seem to be suffering. We will keep him as long as he is willing to get up each day. He is too old for anyone to want but us. We do not care if they are blind, old, deaf or just abanonded. We do not kill except out of kindness. After the 7 day holding period, we adopt out. There are several people who are already interested in this Yorkie. Debra, you would be suprised at how many two legged animals, give up their four legged friends becuase of medical problems, they are tired of them, etc. It is heart breaking to see these animals forgotten and abandoned. JAC will be there to care for them, especially now that we have our own building to do it in. |

Mary- I am so glad this shelter has finally become a reality! One day next week I plan to bring my nephews and friends daughter over to visit the animals! When we were in East Hanover near the Mount Plesant Animal Shelter they made me turn around and take them to the shelter to see the kitties. We must have been there almost an hour as they picked up eevr kitty there hugged and petted it for a few minutes! When I told them we now had a shelter in town they asked if they could visit that one too. |

It is raining Kitties. We would love to have you come and hug our little critters. You might even walk away with one, two, three.

Mary- I'd love to bring another four footed friend home, but the four legged spoiled one living here already will have a fit! I think we may come by Friday. My nephews are in Vermont until Thursday night. BTW -I think someone mentioned to me a few weeks ago the JAC needs help maintaing it's website and taking pictures of the animals. I think know enough HTML to help with the site and I recently got a digital camera. Not too sure how to really use it yet; but I'm willing to practice taking pictures for the site if you want. |

We have a wonderful and talented Web site master. The only problem is he actually works for a living. When an animal comes in we would not be able to get the picture on a site immediately to show people what animal was rescued. I was hoping MOL would offer a spot for that. We might even build that into our site at some point but people would have to know to go to it. I must say we have one of the best, if not the best, web sites of any animal rescue group www.jaconline.org. If a person worked at home or was lucky enough not to work, we would be able to get a picture out to the public ASAP. Thanks for the offer of help and please leave your name at the desk when you viist. I will let you know how we are moving along with this idea. |
