..couldn't help but notice the huge wall panel(s) (i think that's what they are) that went up last night at SOPAC. Once a row of these are in it will look like our own Stonehenge! Good to see something real happening -- but man, it appears to be a large structure in that little space! Any further news on a business plan for this "investment?" Pete |

Anyone wanna climb the fence and play some wiffleball? That "Gray Monster" would make a great outfield wall. |

So is that a wall of SOPAC, or a sound barrier for the train? I wonder if they'll paint a mural on the train station side. Otherwise it's going to look awful ugly from the train tracks... But it is good to see some progress, and I'd rather have an ugly side toward the tracks, than have nothing built in that hole. |

Better the view of the sky above the parkling lot than a wall 20 feet away. But even better, a painting of some sort. :-) Heck, I'll even put forth some bucks toward a mural. I'm not complaining, or at least, that is not my intent. I'm glad to see progress. It's just surprising to me (though I guess I never really thought about it) that the wall is so close to the tracks. |

How will Bunny's service the rear of its property, not to mention customers evacuate in an emergency, with a 40' concrete wall a few feet from its building? Aren't there are any setback statutes in this town? |

Just hope those huge slabs don't fall in the wrong direction. Could easily be the end of the train station or Bunny's (and then what would we do for dinner?) /p |

I drove by the other end of the NJ Transit lot a little while ago, just to gawk. I could hardly believe my eyes with all of the contruction (and lights) going on at the site. Nice to see actual construction work being done here in SO. I hope that they have taken precautions to shelter the neighboring buildings- it's going to be a close fit! And don't worry if it were to endanger the train station- it would just add another decade to the repairs. |

the construction is yes, a nice postive to the "coming soon" signs but lets be really... they told njtransit and Bunny's that they wouldnt start until after each venue was closed and they started evry night before 9....yes work needs to be done but they arent the only ones that have businesss hours... this whole idea is a bunch of crap |

Princess, Let me dispel the rumor, it's false. "On Monday, May 24th at 7:30 pm, Village President Calabrese, SOPAC Chair Barbara Stoller and Monsignor Robert Sheeran were on hand to memorialize Seton Hall's $1 million contribution to SOPAC. This contribution made possible several significant changes to the arts center, including expansion of the performing arts theater from 294 seats to 415 seats. In return for their contribution, Seton Hall will receive preferred access for scheduling the performing arts center, although SOPAC's performances dates will supersede any and all scheduling by other organizations, SHU included."

My apologies for the delayed response, I had to quickly switch my dsl service over to Verizon from Speakeasy since the latter finally cut me off and made me deal. Luckily, I had a 2-line splitter available, no thanks to the Guy at Radio Shack who profusely thanked me for my quick lesson on Telecom and covad practices. Sometimes it takes a kick in the pants.) Hey everyone, I have a new email addy that ends in @verizon.net. Anyone who wants a copy should PL me! |

Getting back to the original thread...I never saw a building go up like this, i.e. walls before the skeleton. Seems like an odd way of constructing, but maybe I'm not knowledgable on this stuff. |

modern pre-fab construction ofen works like this. they throw up some walls, throw in a floor somewhere, then bolt it together. once it's freestanding they continute to bolt things onto it.
