watch your cash deposits at valley national bank..three times already i have put in cash deposits and a few days later the deposit showed up on the online banking as just a few dollars!!!..each time i've had to go into the bank deal with bank reps...spend at least an hour figuring out what happened...and each time it was the tellers fault..so watch your $!!!

I don't think I'd put cash into those machines since it can easily become your word against whoever empties the machine. Checks, no problem but cash I would take inside and get a receipt.

Sorry for the confusion! You always seem well informed in your posts and I would have been surprised if you put cash into an ATM!

I hope it works out for you.

I actually have no problem putting money into the ATMs for my old bank, Citibank. They have a policy (I'd be surprised if others did not) that all deposit envelopes are opened with more than one person in the room. So no one person could simply pocket the money. The idea is that there would have to be a consipracy for cash to be stolen. That's not to say it never happens, but I've always felt reasonably safe.

SONanny, did you have the deposit receipt from the teller? I alway check those to make sure their system records the right amount before I leave. Of course, that doesn't mean everything will always be honky dory, but it can cut out additional trips to the bank.

my recipt was exactly what i had put in and the answer..i got from the bank was that the teller's drawer was over and he didn't check it before he left. it was totally on the tellers head for not entering the right amount into the computer then not checking how much $ he had in his drawer..

That's really bad. I'd ask the bank what they're doing to correct the problem. If I didn't get a satisfactory answer, I'd take my money elsewhere.

I left Valley National Bank several years ago (Maplewood Branch) due to poor service and rude staff. Moved to Norcrown in SO which has just been taken over by Valley. I'm questioning whether I should move on again. R

The NorCrown "Valley National" Branch has phenominal service and is still operating with the same employees as it was as NorCrown. They are never crowded and they are open till 6 5days a week...probably the best hidden bank in town along with Allegiance.

I didn't know that Valley NAtional took over Norcrown. It seems unlikely they will keep two branch offices within blocks of each other. There could conceiveably be another building vacancy in town should they close one office. Just what we need!

I had the opportunity to visit this house on 4th of july and was shocked to see after all the work that the homeowners have put into the house and still the house is in a bad shape. When I mentioned about the foundation 'sinking' is because the foundation was done with cinder blocks instead of poured concrete. this cinder blocks have been deteriorating for years so the house started sinking. The owners have spent money trying to raise the house but unsuccessful. all the windows, doors are crooked. I saw the new plan which is nothing like what Dave is describing. the new house is going to occupy the same lot space with the exception that there will be no deck. the reason that owners are going for variance is because of the new ordinace not because the house is going to occupy all the lot space. The lanscape of the new house is also beautiful. Instead of Dave spending most of his time spreading false news the neighbors could have a discussion with the homeowner or ask for a tour of the house before you sit and make all kinds of assumptions or judgements. I believe that Dave if you were in this same situation you might have come to the same conclusion. I believe that before you start making accusations all facts are supposed to be examined. thats why I took upon myself to pay a visit to this house. So Dave have your facts verified before having the neighbors all excited.
