Could someone recommend a really good upholsterer near SO? It's for a couch and the dude I know of is kinda far to be lugging this thing around the state. Thanks ahead if any.

Ultimate Upholstery on Valley Street (not sure if it is Maplewood or SO at that point),

Ultimate Upholstery is great, they are in S.O. They will come and pick-up the furniture and deliver it when it's done. Doesn't get much easier than that!

Try Williams on Millburn Avenue, next to the DCH Used Car (excuse me, Pre-Owned) lot.

While we're on the subject of fabric...is there a good place around here that someone can recommend to can take care of my purse/bag? It is not something that I can throw into a washer & dryer and I don't know if a dry cleaner will do the job.It needs to be cleaned professionally, because it is a Coach and I want to take good care of it, of course. It doesn't have that many individual stains, but it just looks like it is getting dirty in general.
Any recommendations?

Thanks. It is really important to get this done soon. My couch looks like crap and it wasn't cheap when I bought it. Yikes!!!

Can you be more specific if you recommend them for quality of work or convenience of pickup/delivery? I am looking for reputation.

I recommend Ultimate both for quality and convenience--plus they're really nice people. They did a great job on a big, curved sectional sofa for me a couple of years ago. It actually looks better than new. They came and picked it up, and when it was ready, they brought it back, unwrapped it, and set it up.

I have 2 chairs I need to have reupholstered but I have no idea how much it costs. They're your standard Queen Anne type chairs. Anyone have an idea of cost? Thanks.

Williams did quality work and, like most, picked up my furniture. I can't remember his timing.

I recommend ultimate for both quality of work and pick-up and drop off.

This was my grandmother's chair. Not only did they do a really nice job of reupholstering it, but they cleaned up the wood a little too. Don't know if most upholstry places do this, but it was a nice surprise.

This one we found in the back room at an antique store for $100. Hadn't been reupholstered yet and was a complete disaster. Ultimate did a really fabulous job to my custom specificiations.

I have a couple of other chairs that need reupholstering and will use Ultimate again.

Meand - how much did the second chair cost, if you don't mind my asking?

Bets, it was around $800. That includes the cost of the fabric (there are 3 different fabrics on the chair), 2 of which I bought at Calico Corner, which ain't cheap. And I think they replaced the seat cushion because the original was so far gone. It may even include the $100 we paid for the chair. I want to say the Ultimate portion of the project was probably around $500? Whatever, I have always found them to be very reasonably priced.

If I were to buy a chair like that new, and custom upholstered to my specifications, I can only imagine it would cost at least twice as much.

Ouch! Well, I guess it won't hurt to get an estimate. The 2 chairs I have aren't very valuable, but were in my home when I grew up so hold some sentimental value.

Thanks, M&theboys!
