Why did you freeze the Shame on You Pizzaz thread and leave Shame on You Voro? Are certain local establishments exempt from criticism? Both had accurate comments and reflected posters concerns. How valuable can this Board be if it is a cheering section for one place and allows bashing of others in town? Jeez.... |

What? The Voro thread was pretty mild and so was the Pizzas thread. I really am starting to believe you have certain favorites that are untouchable. Aren't you the same person that was screaming for free speech on a message board a few months ago? Many people contributed money to that cause and I hope you will think a little harder before you blackout threads in the future. I realize this is your board and it is invaluable to many of us. But it starts to lose some of what makes it so enticing when the edit powers become suspect. |

Double shame on you, Dave. When I opened a new thread -- continuing the closed "Shame on Pizzazz" thread to draw attention to its subject's juvenile posts and qualifications to serve our village as a trustee, you summarily deleted it. This is worse than buying up every copy of the News Record before an election. What next, book burning at the S.O. Library? Or, are you getting paid in pizza and draft beers at the rabbit bar? |

Actually, I think the situation is pretty clear. The Voro thread is a tough but mostly fair discussion of a real problem faced by a local business (except for the digression on typing skills and grammer), and deserves to be allowed to continue as long as it is kept fair and respectful. The Pizzaz thread started bad and got random. I don't really care if you close it or not (you might be justified), but I WOULD love to never see those mud wrestling pictures again -- poor taste and insulting to those they are directed at. Still a supporter, and still sending you thanks for what you do here. But I do increasingly fear that your editorial hand has gotten rather uneven. It's your board, and you can play favorites if you want to, but I hope you don't. |

The overwhelming majority of posts on the Voro thread are supportive of Voro and its owner but trying to offer different perspectives and ideas. The owner of Voro was on the thread ASKING for feedback. What exactly was the thinking behind closing it? I've seen way way way way worse things said about plumbers, contractors, other restaurants, nail salons etc etc. As for Bunny's - for God's sake - it's a bar - yes the bathroom is gross but you have a few and who cares? People are pretty smart - they will read the thread and figure out pretty quickly what's what. You (and frankly Bunny's) lose goodwill when you strongarm the thread. |

I completely agree. Every time a thread is needlessly tampered with people question why it was done. This is NOT the first time a lot of people have sensed favoritism for specific people. As I LOVE to mention, this is Dave and Jamies board, he can do with it what he pleases, but it is a far less pleasant environment for all of the users when the rules are needlessly bent for ones friends. |

Who's being favored? SO refugee, that's probably an apt comparison. Fortunately, I get used to it. :D |

You've got the hooplehead containment system down pretty well, Dave. In keeping with the thread title, shame on you for not being a little quicker on the old slap to the head though. Some of these hooples really deserve it. |

Dave - If you want my opinion, and even if you don't, I look at it this way. Dave from Voro's has not complained to you has he? If he has asked you to please delete the thread, then based on what happened with the CHS lunchroom incident, I wouldn't blame you for closing the thread. But the impression I got from reading the thread, Dave was asking for feedback and looking for ways to correct the situation. The tread about Bunny's, I felt was started with the intent to slam John. But, I didn't see John asking for the thread to be pulled. Instead, he tried to resolve the 'problem.' As those of us who read the notes have seen, this person has no desire to take John up on his offer. Instead they continued to attack him. John has responded with humor. Good for him. This is your board, and you have the right to make the rules. But as someone said, a lot of us came together to support you and the right to free speech. Unless John or Dave has requested the threads pulled, I think they should be left up. I can understand if you're uneasy and might be concerned someone might try to sue you again, and I wouldn't blame you for feeling that way. But I think one of the things said about the lawsuit without merit was not once did any of them ask you to remove the notes. If they had, and you refused, it would be different. Same with the two threads now. If the people the threads are about haven't asked you to remove the threads, they'd look pretty silly if they tried to sue you. |
