I looked under the Maplewood Section of MOL and it appears they do not have the same dialogue as SO, although this is all called Maplewood On line? While going through Maplewood Village tonight there appeared to be a lot of police activity (Police Cars) and groups of young adults gathered in various areas. The young adults appeared very old or "tall" possibly out of high school. It appeared as if something were expected or ended. The whole scene made be feel uncomfortable and I have not seen that situation before. Am I missing something - what happened? I did not have the feeling that I wanted my kids walking around at that point. |

What you are posting to is called the "Maplewood-South Orange Message Board" and you can link to it from either Maplewood Online or South Orange Village Online (http://www.southorangevillage.com/).

If you search the archives you will find countless examples of gathered teenagers that made people uncomfortable. Usually these things have a pretty predictable arc -- someone posts they saw people gathered and asks what happened, someone else says they heard the words "gun," or "gangs," or "sopac" -- and then things really spiral out of control. If you really want to know what happened, call the police. It's the only way you'll ever have even a shot at getting a straight answer. |

Good advice. You mention previous examples also. I go to Maplewood frequently in the evenings and have not noticed this before, which for me is a good thing. I will call the police because that is the best source. I have seen teens gathered before and this is a place for them to meet. The young people I saw last night was not typical and the presence of police not tyical. It made me think about even allowing my kid free time in Maplewood after a movie or such. |
