Hi everyone. My wife and I just moved to South Orange. We're having a baby in Nov and need to find a pediatrician that's within walking distance of the village (she doesn't drive yet). Any recommendations? Thank you much. |

Dr. Alan Lubin and staff are wonderful. Right on South Orange Avenue just past Preston's Funeral Home and the bank in the apartment building just past the bank...He is not an alarmist and wants what works best for baby and parents...his team never signs out to other doctors, they all cover for each other so that your records are always available. When our girls were little we always made sure that for well visits they saw each doctor so that if they were sick whoever was on that day knew our child. 973-762-0400. |

I strongly second BGS re: Dr. Lubin. We interviewed several area peds. before having our first child and have never regreted our choice! Our kids are 4 and 6 now and Dr. Lubin (and his partners/staff) has gotten us through some very scary times with our kids! Nothing truly serious, thankfully, but every bout with a really high fever can be terrifying and Dr. Lubin's personality/style is so reassuring. Set up a meeting and talk to him. His is not a fancy or stylish office, but I wouldn't go to anyone else. Best wishes for an easy pregnancy and delivery! (And make sure you two go out and enjoy your ability to be spontaneous while you still can! If you think you're 'too tired' to go out now, just wait until you are parents!) |

Thank you for your responses. We found Dr. Lubin and drove by the building and wasn't sure what he was about. We'll definitely set up a meeting. |

BTW -- I, too, think that Lubin is terrific!
He is not only great with my teen daughter, but my elementary school age son.
Seen us through some real crises and hospitalizations, too.
Had mixed feelings about Pam Clay, though.

When we came to SO, we had interviewed Lubin and his then partners, including Gruenwald. We started using the practice, and when they split, we went with Gruenwald, but I've always had a great deal of respect for Lubin and the people he filled out his office with.
Gruewald is in Millburn, so they're not an option. But Lubin was great. |

I recommend Dr. Dawn Cardwell (Guiding Hands Pediatrics) on Prospect Street, not far off SO Ave. She is excellent. |

I don't think Dr. Cardwell has a website, but I know she is happy to meet with prospective new patients/parents. Her number is 973-763-3314. |
