MOL Announces Settlement of Lawsuit

MaplewoodOnline, LLC, David Ross and Jamie Ross recently agreed to a settlement of all claims against them in Charles & Gidigbi v. South Orange-Maplewood School District, et al. The plaintiffs have dismissed their lawsuit against Maplewood Online, David Ross, its moderator, and Jamie Ross, its administrator and member. The terms of the settlement are confidential. MOL thanks local attorney and MOL member Peter Shelton for his pro-bono assistance to the online community.

Congrats Dave and Jamie -- it's unfortunate that things like this happen...

but on a brighter note -- thanks for giving us each the opportunity to communicate/vent on a public forum, lol

I'm still relatively new here. I saw the message that Sheena posted above on the front page. What was the lawsuit about? Sorry if this is old news or common knowledge.

Don't hesitate to ask -- OK?!

This is the best news!!! I cannot even imagine how this whole thing could have even a little bit been pinned on the MOL mavens...but whatever, I am thrilled that you two have been vindicated. Thanks to the Barrister as well!!
Ciao!

I understand the the terms of the settlement are confidential. But I am a bit concerned. Could the settlement perhaps have required MOL to agree to never again post government documents on the site? Or perhaps to agree to remove them ASAP, if posted? I hope this is not the case, since I have always enjoyed the open-ness of the MOL forum and I was hoping the legal team would try to protect this in any "settlement". Still, I am happy the issue was settled and I am sorry it took so long.
