Can someone please recommend a car service or two (or three) to take me to Newark Airport on a weekday morning (approx 4:30-5AM)? Will they take a credit card? How far in advance do I need to book? Also, upon my return, will there be cabs at the airport to bring me home (Sun AM) or do I need to book a return trip? Any info and/or tips are welcome. Thanks! |

We have used Maplewood Taxi & others - just called the day before & had no problems. Never tried to use a credit card, so I don't know - maybe if you pay in advance? It's a flat fee (+ tip). They can give you their card/number & you can call as soon as you land - can't recall if we have ever done this - maybe once...we generally just get in the taxi queue outside luggage pickup. There is an agent who asks where you are going & gives you a slip - it will also be a flat fee. If I recall, both are in the $30-$40 range. Bon voyage! |

We use A Plus Limo. It's about $30 in cash or about $36 if you pay with a credit card. Add 15% tip or so. A Plus Limo 973-275-0660

Im with Tom on this one. A Plus is always on time, and I find the rate is more than reasonable to Newark. Plus, you can open an account with them and leave your credit card on file. On the other hand, I find the $8-$10 fare from the train station to my crib to be ridiculous. |

We've used cab line from airport twice recently and been very pleased. There always seems to be a lot waiting. Fares are pre-set and listed on dispatcher's booth. As doulamomma said, fare is written down for you by dispatcher on a slip so you know exactly what you will have to pay. Last time we had 4 people and a bunch of luggage, so they called for a minivan for us. It was there within 10 minutes. |

Used to use a plus a lot, found them affable enough but unreliable. Got sick of calling them to see where they were. Now use Springfield Limo. Costs more ($48 incl tip vs. $38 I think with A plus), but car is much nicer, clean, and they are reliable. Ill admit $48 is a lot, and im generally not paying myself.... |

I've used A Plus 7 or 8 times for Newark Airport/Newark Penn Station, never a problem. Add $5 for credit card. Newark taxi back from airport is 32 or 33 bucks, just wait in line, pretty easy/painless. |

A Plus thinks the time you tell them is for when they should set their alarm clock. |

YES. I called at 5:01 and woke some guy up who said "you have a 5:00 pick up" then he beeped some guy and woke him up and then he came back on the phone and claimed we weren't in the book! I am crazy about this sort of thing -- I KNOW we were in the book! We drove to the airport --running on empty, missed the long term parking shuttle by THIS much ... but, made our flight fine and had a fabulous California vacation! |

Yep...I second maplewood taxi on the way out and EWR taxi line on the way in. I have used them over 4 years and never a problem. Of course I think they are all a $$$ rip...I can fill my tank up for $36. |
