My four year old daughter recently started having overnight accidents. Today she told me the reason she's been having these accidents are a result of the "toilet dreams"---you know-you dream you're on the toilet and before you know it you're really going. I remember having them up until I was in College, what exactly causes this. Should I be worried? At first I thought she was BS-ing me but then I realized I never discussed this dream with her and at four years old, I doubt she could fabricate all this. Any ideas/solutions? |

Does she wet the bed at a particular time? Perhaps you just need to get her up to go to the bathroom at some point during the night? Maybe before you go to bed? Could be she's having "the toilet dream" as a result of a full bladder, but isn't able to wake up to go to the bathroom? |

My daughter had this problem for a long time, until older than you mention. We used the electronic sensing sytem (Nite Trainer, I think?) that they sell at Carolina Drug on Millburn Ave. This was on the recommendation of her pediatrician. It was just fabulous - it really worked. It makes this screeching sound if there is even a drop of moisture - kid wakes up, goes to the toilet, and learns to avoid having this happen. Warning - it is very loud, and will wake up the whole family - but the training is usually successful in a very short period of time. I am so glad we tried this. |
