What's the best way to advertise a HUGE weekend LP sale? A local paper? Do I need a permit from the township? |

Ligeti is upgrading his 78rpm collect to 12" vinyl. It's a good move ligeti. 33 1/3 rpm sounds superior. |

I'll tell you one thing: LPs still kick CD . They sound BETTER. Don't deny it. I'm keeping my sentimental favorites, but I have about 1000 others sitting around in boxes that I don't need (I worked in record stores; I know my stuff). Mostly classical and jazz, a smattering of 1970s pop. There's some good, collector-grade discs, all in excellent condition (quite naturally). No one ever touched my LPs except me. I'm through with eBay. Too much spam, phishing, spoofing, i.d. theft, who knows what else is lurking out there. The Internet is a slaughter pen of criminal opportunity. You don't need it. Reject tinny, digital sound in 2006. Embrace the warmth of natural, analogue music. |

I'm clearly a mom. Upon reading your thread title, i was impressed that you had amassed enough Little People to warrant having your own sale. |

Ligeti, I'm in. Just tell me where to be. Do you have much Ligeti? I used to have a nice disk of the "New Adventures" but I think somebody borrowed it. |

If there's one thing that shouldn't be lent out, it's vinyl!! I too would like to see what's on the table, where & when? |

All my Ligeti is on the inferior CD format, sorry. I'll arrange a viewing. I hope I'm not getting into a situation where a bunch of record nerds come over to the house, I serve them lemonade, then all they want to do is argue about whether Coltrane is better than Rollins. Or make annoying comments like, "OK, I'll give you .50 for that Wilhelm Kempff album with the clipped corner, that's all I'm really interested in." |

I just sold my entire record collection, probably 250 - 300 albums...for $70! Classic jazz, classical. It broke my heart when the guy told me what he'd pay. I had to spend it all on scotch just to feel better. |

Ligeti, are you trying to sell the whole collection at once, or will you have a yard sale so we can pick through them? Even though it's more work, I bet you'd make more money selling them individually. I agree that vinyl sounds better, but CDs have improved quite a bit in the last few years. Higher sampling rate and all that. |

I'll probably end up having a yard sale, but there may be a "service charge" to cover the time I'll have to spend yakking with non-purchasers. Also, no cellphones or Blackberrys are allowed on my property. |

I just had my turntable rebuilt, and am digging records. So no, I won't be a nerd! |
