This feels like a ridiculous question, but can anyone recommend a good place --- ideally online --- to buy reasonably priced yet good-quality mattress pads? I am amazed at how expensive they are, but of course they are important. I would prefer to shop online. Any thoughts?

I like The Company Store (www.thecompanystore.com)

They have bedding basics. I've ordered most of my kids bedding from them. They have really cute stuff, on par with Pottery Barn kids, but not nearly as expensive. I have to believe they're prices for basics would be decent too.

Check it out.

Then again, there's always Target and Wal-Mart on-line.

I got a pretty plushy one for a king size bed from linens and things for $39. The LNT on rte 10. They have cheaper and smaller. Store on http://www.lnt.com
The site is reliable.

thread drift: mattress toppers? what's latex foam and memory foam? Latex is supposed to be environmentally friendly but i read a lot of complaints that is has a strong odor?
BTW, Overstock.com has mattress pads from land's end at like a third of the price!
