I am looking for a 1994 Kawasaki Vulcan 500 fuel tank (or equivalent) to replace the one on my motorcycle. I have my bike garaged at my father's house and the gas tank must have been hit with something sharp (while in the garage). It has a one inch tear that causes a very slow gas leak. Thankfully, even though I started the bike today to warm it up (I had not realized it was leaking at that point), there were no explosions (no charred Gatica). The bike actually shut itself off, probably because it was too cold. Anyway, I took it out of the garage and I am emptying the rest of the gas as I write. I have Googled (can't believe this is actually a verb now) for vendors but have not gotten any useful results. Are there any Japanese motorcyle dealers in the M/SO area? |

Quick, someone open up the manual and tell how to un-mount the gas tank (I don't have access to my manuals right now and Googling didn't help). |

Too bad you can't download service manuals for vehicles as easily as you can for electronic gadgets.

Yeah. They want to charge for them, which is their right, I suppose. I do have the service manuals. Just have to dig them out. |

It's an interesting difference. The gadget industry sees publishing manuals on the web as a cheap way to get customers out of their hair by getting customers to help themselves.

Maybe it's because Yamaha also make electronics!

I forgot about that. If you go to the Yamaha USA home page, you can choose between all the different divisions...musical instruments, etc. Mitsubishi used to make airplanes too...lol! |
