Does anyone know what this area is like? How does it compare with Maplewood/SO? |

If I remember correctly - there is a cute little town - but it's smaller than MWSO. You're near all the major highways and the kenisco dam (very large open space - dances and fairs held there in the summer.

I guy I work with loves it. He and wife are 39. Has 3 kids and they're pretty upper/yuppy in their academic and food/restaurant expectations. Kids go to public school, and its really good. Good daycare available. Used to have more blue collar/skilled trades population base but now is way more expensive. They feel very safe, like the property values. Both commute to NYC. Couldn't tell you about a Maplewood comparison though I imagine it's less diverse and the house stock generally newer. Some tear down action but legislation to avoid McMansion city. If you have other specific questions, I can pass along. |

It's a pretty exclusive place as you have to have died gloriously in battle to get in. The decor is heavy on spears, armour and things of that type. Every night they serve roast boar washed down with mead.

good friends of mine just bought a house there - they're newlyweds, no kids. They said the schools are pretty good and I believe it's less costly than Maplewood, as far as the price of houses goes. Their house is close to 100 years old, so I don't think all of the houses are new. They live on a big hill, which is really pretty, although not that convenient! It's a pretty short train to NYC and the town seemed cute too. I would have to agree with cynical girl though, I don't think it is nearly as diverse as Maplewood. |
