Looking to buy a jog stroller to take my infant son with me on walks/runs. Would love some recommendations, what to look for, what to stay away from, etc.

Also, where is a good place to run with a jog stroller? The sidewalks in Maplewood are awful and hte streets narrow so I'm sorta nervous. would love to find a good safe spot. (driveway in circles? )

Thanks!

I don't have a recommendation for a stroller, but I will give some unsolicited advce. You should check with your pediatrician about putting your infant in a jogging stroller -- especially if you are going to run with it. Because of the lack of neck support and the potential for shaking the baby's head while running with the stroller, there's a minimum recommended age for putting infants in jogging
strollers. Can't remember if it is six months or one year.

a good place to go is south mountain reservation. there's a 2 mile paved loop that is great just for that.

there are joggers out there that recline all the way, so you wouldn't have to worry about the neck support. - the baby would just lie flat. -don't know any names/brands, but check it out. -also can't hurt to do what shoshannah suggested & chat w/ your pediatrician about it. they do know best...at least sometimes!

Taam - where is the paved 2 mile loop? I don't know the reservation as well as I'd like and it sounds perfect. Thanks!

one way to get there: from wyoming ave. - make a left onto south orange ave. pass the apt bldg on your left (the top?), make your first left into south mountain reservation. drive to the end (1/2 mile?) & parking is on your right. the loop begins at the wooden gates that block off car traffic.
park your car fairly immediately when you turn in, don't drive too deep into the lot & park. those cars are most likely there for a different reason...which leads me to...
i suggest you go under mol's history on south mountain reservation. that's what i did, before i started & it was eye-opening. that being said, i go there alone & i've always been 100% fine. i also know other women who go alone & are also fine. it's just a good idea to have a sense of what can go on there & get a feel for your surroundings.

Target sell "Schwinn" jog stroller, which appears to be the same as the "Instep," for $125. It is a bargain, and seems well made. Has big front wheel; you can actually jog with it.
