where can i find a small bouquet of daisies that i don't have to spend too much on? - i'm thinking of a corner bodega the city where you can buy a decent bouquet (mine would last a week!) for $5.00? is something like that available here? |

Most grocery stores carry flowers. I know Pathmark in SO has them right as you walk in the door. Whole Foods too, although they can be kind of expensive. Costco definately carries giant bunches of flowers that are really cheap, but you have to be a member--which could be a good thing. |

Check out the place in the Milburn mall, near the Drug Fair. |

I can relate, taam!!! The ONLY thing that is less expensive in New York than in New Jersey is flowers...I just love those bodega stands. The closest I've come in terms of variety at a non-florist location in NJ is Whole Foods. The prices there aren't as cheap, but the selection is always nice. Think peonies and hydrangea, not food-color dyed carnations. I bought a nice bunch of daisies there for $8. |

Shoprite always has the "3 bunches for $10" thing going, and they usually have a nice selection. Try to go to the one on Northfiled Ave., and get the flowers that are in the refridgerated section - they last longer. Also, I have to say, although I never buy flowers at Whole Foods because they're way too expensive, last Friday I got two bunches of tulips for $10, and a week later, they are still alive and gorgeous! |

Tip - instead of using a regular florist, I've used Whole Foods several times and have been blown away by how nice a bouquet they do for so much cheaper than a regular florist! Even if you go in to get bunches, you can ask them to wrap them nicely in a fabric-like paper and tie with a bow - really nice touches. I've also used them for parties - I take a couple of my own vases and ask them to fill them and give a budget. Everytime I go to pick them up, I hear about how many people saw them while checking out and wanted to buy them. They do really nice work and have quality flowers in my experience! (And, if you see something you like, but it's a bit wilted, just ask and they will give you fresher flowers if they've been delivered.) |

If you ever go to Trader Joes they sell pre-wrapped bunches. They must be pretty fresh, too. My sister got sweetheart roses that lasted weeks. |

Thanks everyone. I think I'll try the Shop Rite first. I have tried Whole Foods many times & you're right, they're great, just too $$. Thanks again! |
