I received an email regarding a 12 old year girl in Randolph who was just diagnosed with Acute Leukemia and is in desperate need of "NEGATIVE" blood. If you know of anyone who might be able to help, please forward this information. (While I don't independently have information about this, if you can posssibly help it is worth a local phone call) "Subject: Mary Anselmo Emergency Morristown Memorial Hospital has just told the Anselmos that they are dangerously low of "negative blood." 12 year old Mary can receive blood and platelets, only from a negative blood donor. They have requested our help in finding people with negative blood (any type), immediately. If you have negative blood and are able to give blood, please ... call me at 973.989.4486. Please help spread the word. We are reaching out to several neighboring communities as well. We will contact you and organize the donations with MMH. Thank you, Tammy"

There are a number of people, my sister and brother in law included, who were donating blood for a 15 year old with Leukemia. I'm pretty sure he no longre needs blood. I'll ask her when she comes home tonight. If that's the case, maybe she'll donate for this child. |

Local service organizations, congregations, etc. might be a possible source of persons with negative blood who are willing/able to donate and they are highly likely to have a good means of speading the word. It is worth contacting as many of them as you can think of, especially those which regularly sponsor blood drives. |
