Our cat has been missing since last night (2/6). She's an indoor cat who unexpectedly ran out when we opened the door! Her name is Flannel. She was lost in the Riggs Place, Gardner, Cottage area (2 blocks from Seton Hall). Please PM me or reply to this post if you find her. Thank you! |

Flannel is very cute - hope she makes her way home! I don't live in that area but will keep an eye out - thought others would find it helpful to know: Does she have a collar/tags? Will she come/allow someone to pick her up? Declawed? Good luck |

No collar or tags. She gets scared easily and may not let anyone pick her up. No, she is not declawed. She's a very sweet tempered cat. |

I'm very sorry to hear. I have nine cat's of my own... Yes, I'm a wacko. But don't fret... They don't go far. I hope you find her. |

I saw you posted this in another thread. Have you found Flannel yet? I'm sure you'll find her. If you haven't found her yet PL me and I'll look for her again tomorrow. I asked the daughter of a friend who lives in your area to keep on eye out for her. |

Wow, Gina, she is beautiful! Remember to check tiny nooks and crannies - pots, hoses, under decks and steps. She knows her home and likely didn't stray too far. And see if you can get repeated permission to search your neighbors' garages. Please keep us posted. |

No, I'm getting more discouraged by the day. I'm so depressed that she's out in the freezing cold tonight. She's used to sleeping on our toasty radiators. The kids really miss her. I made flyers and am going to put them up tomorrow. Thanks for asking. Keep her in your prayers. |

I agree with what LAS said. From what I have read and from our own experience, it seems that "escaped" indoor cats often stay nearby. In our case, our very timid and very indoor (never outside) cat apparently escaped when a door was momentarily left open for contractors. I'm sure our cat just got scared and bolted. Anyway, it was gone for 2 pretty darned cold nights. We put signs up all over the neighborhood. Amazingly the cat was found by our neighbor (directly across the street) hiding under a chair on their porch. As predicted by a few "cat experts," our cat was hiding in a place that allowed him to keep an eye on our house but he was too spooked to simply come back. In fact, when I went to get the cat, even when he saw me, I literally had to drag him out from under the chair. Good luck. |

Marty, Thank you! That gives me hope. Things just keep getting worse! A 30 year old friend of mine was just killed in a car accident and our heat in the house isn't working (help is on the way for that!)! |

Gina, I am very sorry about your friend. I don't know what to say about that. That is terrible. As to your cat, maybe you could walk your immediate neighborhood (a few houses on either side and across the street) tonight with a flashlight. If your cat is hiding outside you might see her eyes with the light of the flashlight. Just a thought, but might be a good idea to let your neighbors know what you are doing so you don't freak anyone out or get arrested! Again, very sorry about your friend.

The first thing she did was go to her "private bathroom" (ha ha, kitty litter) and then she ate a ton of food. I have a feeling she didn't eat while she was out. She slept with me all night long! Thank you again for all your advice and good wishes! |

Great news. Glad to hear kitty is home. So interesting how they all follow that pattern where they run, but not too far. Sorry to hear about your friend. I'm glad you had some good news to go with the bad. They say bad things happen in threes, so hopefully you've had your share for a while. |

Gina - I saw this news story last night and thought that "Undercover kitten," Fred was yours. Thought maybe your cat was leading a double life. I swear the photos they had on the news last night --- that cat looked just like your cat. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/09/nyregion/09vet.html Glad you found your cat and that he's not leading a double life. |

In general, cats do not go further than 200 ft. from their "homes." Because they are freightened, they do not answer when called. Therefore, if anyone loses a cat in future, look around the house, under things, around things near your home. |
