I need a 100,000 mile tune up:
new timing belt
water pump
hoses
spark plugs
gas filter
oil change/filter
etc.

Can someone recommend a good local mechanic? Thanks.

Nelson Automotive on Dunnell in Maplewood, by the train station. Fair, honest, reasonably priced. Dave, the owner, is a really nice guy.

Also very convenient if you take the train out of Maplewood. Drop off in the morning and pick-up on your way home!

I would then recommend NELSON . If it was European I'd go with L&J on Springfield as they always did good work on my BMW. Our second car is a CIVIC and I wouldn't hesitate bringing it to Dave when it needs it's next service. Hope this helps.
Dan :-)

Bernie's Motors on Millburn Avenue. Does great work on all kinds of cars. The most honest and reasonably priced we've ever found.

Definately Nelson's Automotive. Been happily going there for years. Friendly, competent and honest. And as mentioned above, doesn't hurt that he's next to the train station.
