I've heard that we could get heavy snowfall on Sat pm/Sun am and I need to get some wellies. I'm not sure what they're called here (I'm English) but what I'm looking for is a pair of cheap waterproof or rubber boots which are knee-high - preferably with a fleecy or warm lining. I just know I'll be having to shovel snow LOL!

I guess that most shoe shops won't have winter boots now as I've already seen Summer sandals in the stores.

Does anyone know if Costco or Target have any or any other ideas where I can buy a pair? I'm likely to be going to Route 22 today.

Target is worth a look. I haven't been recently, but I bought my winter boots there a few years ago. They are Sorels (a good brand)--rubber outside, nice and cozy inside. They were 20 bucks!

Give Models a try. They have a store (or did the last time I checked) at the strip mall at the corner of Liberty and Route 22 in Union. Also Sports Authority or Dicks might carry them or something similar.

Might try Payless & the shoe dept. of Conway (which has lots of cheesy import shoes)...both on 22 (same shopping center as Modell's).

Livingston Mall has Sears which carries Land's End boots that are great. They also have Payless.

..and Modells. There is also a Dick's and a Sports Authority nearby on Route 10.

Also, Marty's Shoes on Stuyvesant Avenue in Union usually has a large selection of waterproof boots, even late in the season.

Smith & Hawken, the gardening store, is one of the only places I could find that sells authentic-looking dark green Wellies (I searched the internet for them because I was obsessed with the photo of Kate Moss in cut-off jean shorts and Wellies at Glastonbury this year). JCrew also sold their own version of them this year with a tweed top layer over the rubber (quite cute). Also, they're a bit silly, but Old Navy has a ton of rubber boots right now in fun, optical prints, but I don't know how warm or functional they are.

If you're in the city, the Ricky's stores generally have lots of rubber boots in cute colorful prints.

Wow - so many replies - thank you!

Drat - I'd never thought of Old Navy.

I tried Target which had nothing, only Spring and Summer shoes then went to Modell's - they had a tiny selection of boots but not my size but I did get a pair for my friend's son. Conway only had fashion boots (what a horrible smelly and scruffy store it is!) and Payless only has Summer shoes and sandals in right now. It's crazy not having warm or waterproof footwear available in the North East in February!

I then went to WalMart (which I really dislike) but did manage to buy a horrible bright pink and black pair of snowboots for $9 - so they'll do just for shovelling the drive, I wouldn't be seen dead wearing them anywhere else LOL!

There were actually some bright green or bright pink wellies for about $18 but no insulation so I went for the very untrendy pair instead.

Summerbabe; yeah, Kate Moss would look great wearing a potato sack! Glastonbury was another washout last Summer so no wonder she needed her green farmer's wellies LOL!

Bill's (on Morris Avenue not far from Bellini's and Panera's) has a good selection. I think someone already mentioned it. My son needed high rubber boots for a costume once, and I've gotten some very nice winter snowboots there - reasonably priced.

I know you already found what you were looking for, but I wanted to give another thumb's-up to Bill's.

In case you are still looking for a better pair of boots, I bought a pair of great quality rubber boots for my husband this winter at Gempler's Website.
