it's about time to get our little one on skis... can anyone recommend a local place that sells and can fit little ones for cross country skis? thanks. |

You could do quite well by calling LL Bean's 800 number or going on the website, same for REI. They have so much experience in guiding parents on the right XC skis for youngsters that you needn't worry. We outfitted my daughter with her first 3 pairs of XC skis by phone with LLB and a pair from REI. Never had the slightest problem. They'll even recommend a boot and boot size (if you send them a tracing of the child's foot). Good luck. Have fun. |

You can also try High Country Sports just past the Livingston circle on Rt. 10. Don't know if they have skis for toddlers, but we bought our son skis there last year when he was 5. If you want to combine it with a skiing trip, you can't go wrong at Laplandlake in Benson, NY. It's a cross country ski resort about 4 hours away, and if you buy your kid's skis there, you can trade up at a discount. Wish I had done that originally, but will get the next ones there. |
