I need to drive to Dutchess County on Monday morning, taking the GSP to the Tappan Zee. If I leave South Orange at 8:30, will the traffic be cleared out? If not, when will it? Thanks! |

Where in Dutchess County? Perhaps the Mid-Hudson Bridge, or the Bear Mountain Bridge would be better. jd |

Don't worry, the snow will melt, and all will be well. jd |

I'm going to see my folks in Pawling, so Tappan Zee is the way to be. I'm not so much worried about the snow as the traffic-- I want the trip to be as short as possible with a toddler and a newborn in the back seat! |

In my experience, leaving Maplewood at 8:30, you will encounter traffic trouble on the GSP but the Tappan Zee will be clear. Possibly consider the Turnpike to Fort Lee and then to the Palisades Parkway to the Tap....that is if you know the way. In any case, the snow is an unknown factor.

I actually had thought it was quite quick if you took 287 to the tap - no?? still new to the area... |

Why not wait until after 9am, when traffic will be much less a factor? |

Pdg, that's what I'll do. I'll drop the husband off for the 8:20ish train, take the kids out to breakfast, and then we'll leave. I'd rather get there later with less driving, if you know what I mean. Thanks, everyone! Eire, we usually take GSP/Tappan Zee/Saw Mill/684. Say hi to the girls for me. |

287 is usually the best. However, at morning and evening rush hours, there is the inevitable traffic jam in the Morristown area. |
