Hi, any advice on a good day camp for my 4 year old boy? We need 5 days a week, 9 - 4ish. Thanks.

Can't rave enough about Harbor Hills Day Camp www.hhdc.com. They offer 4, 6 or 8 week options and they don't have to be consecutive.

My then 5 and 6 yo kids got on a bus at our house at 8:06 and were brought back at between 4:45 and 5:10, depending on traffic (usually close to 5).

The best part is, the tuition includes a hot lunch, with lots of standard substitutions for picky eaters! (And, they're peanut-free for those who are allergic.) It's like a mini-vacation for mom too!

They also offer a sibling discount. We did all 8 weeks last year and the kids loved every day. This year we committed to the first 4 weeks and may add-on a week or two, but wanted to possibly go on a family trip instead.

Other friends of my kids went to:
Jefferson Lakes
Spring Lake
Deeny Riback (sp?)
Camp Riverbend

If you do searches on the web, you'll find websites for all these camps.

Camp isn't cheap (last year 8 wks for 2 was around $9K!), but it is like school that is simply a blast. I never went to camps like kids around here get to go to, but I wish I had!

The best way to check out camps is to attend them yourself for a tour during the season to get a realistic idea of the pros/cons of each.

If you want something less awesome and cheaper, I've heard very good things about the Y camp in Maplewood. I think they do swimming at CHS - they walk there from the day care facility.

There's also supposed to be a great camp through The Connection in Summit, but I'm sure it's booked up already - there is great demand for most of their programs.

You're very welcome!

Some think I'm a nosy, know-it-all, but I really do enjoy trying to help out.
