Yes, I think there's a chance, but I'm not betting on it. I think there is more of a chance of a delayed opening in order to get things cleared, but the weather forecast is for clear/sunny weather. As mentioned on this same topic on another thread, though, this is only a guess. Check in here or on the school websites in the early morning for updates. |

Oh, poo, sac. I hate delayed opening. As it is, I realized I can't do the work at home thing tomorrow for a bunch of reasons. Was hoping at least the child could just stay home with her dad. I thought sometimes they factored in the numbers of teachers etc. who might have trouble getting in, from beyond M/SO? Please say there's better than a chance!!! |

Usually when there is this much snow, they need an extra day to clear. As a teacher in the district, I will be surprised if we have school on Monday but shoveled out just in case. |

I hope you're right, onyx. I'm dreading wending my way to the train (parking, chiefly) let alone late openings and all the rest of it. Still, told the kid to make sure her homework is done, just in case... |

Really? I can't believe there won't be school tomorrow. A friend of mine lives in Eerie. They got 18 inches of snow, had school the next day, no delays. |

Like I said, I'm only guessing. I have absolutely no influence on (or prior knowledge of) that decision making. Historically our district has been less inclined to close and definitely less inclined to decide early than many others, so I don't expect to know for sure until tomorrow morning. Up until last year, I would not have been expecting a delay since it had never happened in the 9 years we had been in the district, but since we had the two delays last year that worked out rather well, I think that is a more favored choice these days. |

I just got word from my phone chain colleague that Jersey City schools are closed tomorrow. Yippee! Boy, I hope my kid has off so we can go sledding in the morning before the warm temps start melting the beautiful white stuff! I was just too exhausted after shoveling for 2 hours to take her today. |

I'm betting on at least a delayed opening. I drove today and while some streets were fairly clear, some were completely un-passable (including major parts of SO Ave). I don't know if they have even started to shovel out the schools and busses yet. |

If Jersey City schools are closed I hope that means mine is too! I work at a special ed school and a lot of kids are bused in from there. I just spoke to my friend who works in Randolph and they've already announced that they're closed tomorrow also. |

Just went for a walk around Maplewood Village, Memorial Park, and surrounding areas. Unless there's a lot of clearing, shoveling, and icing going on thru the night, I don't think it's a safe walk (esp. w/ commuter traffic) to Jefferson, Tuscan, Columbia or MMS. A delayed opening makes sense. |

hismom, not all the buses used are district buses... many of the buses used are from Jimmys Transportation in , I think, Irvington(?). (hoping for a closing or delay, will wear my PJs inside out tonight) |

Millburn has a delayed opening so maybe you will too. It won't be safe for kids to walk and it will be hard for teachers who live some distance to get in for early Middle School and High School openings. |

The problem is they cannot shovel out all of the walkways in time. Then the police have to get after people who have not shoveled their sidewalks or the kids have to walk in the streets which are so much more narrow with the snowbanks. |
