My satellite dish is caked with snow and is out of reach. Is anyone planning to Tivo the new Desperate Housewives tonight and, if so, would be able to make a cassette for me? I wish the promised high winds would hit to clear this thing off!

Hey Bets - my DirecTV is working fine. You might have to clear off the satellite dish. That happened once last year, once we cleared it with a broom it came right back on. |

I can't reach it, Strings. It's positioned near the roof with no nearby windows. If it's still out tomorrow, I'll have to take action. Dave, you've got me worried now. I hope a cable didn't get loosened in the storm. Ah, well. Back to the book and an early bedtime for me! |

How about lighting candles & pretending the power is out or it's olden days? Our TV is blaring in the other room & no TV sounds charming at the moment (tho. I'm sure I'd be annoyed if it were really out)...hey - I can turn it off - that's what I'll do! |

Interestingly, I had no problems with DirecTV tonight. Usually I am the first to lodge a complaint. |

I probably do have it Tivo'd. I've been recording them all to watch at once. Trouble is we missed the first 5-6 episodes, so now we don't want to watch any till we tape those as reruns. Anyone still have those? (Bets, the kids are watching Mulan - when it's over I'll be able to check that last night's episode taped. Will PL you.) |

PS, Bets, I think I remember that there is a dish cover you can buy to prevent snow buildup. Maybe after the snow melts you might want to look into that so it doesn't happen to you again. (Of course you'd have to be able to reach the dish, which is the original problem, so this may not be any help...) |

Yesterday there was no signal at all available. This morning it was struggling, I was getting the crazy graphic but an occasional glimpse of "CNN" and voices. Hopefully, by the time I get home all will be well. I'm really hoping that snow falling off the roof didn't hit the dish and knock it askew. I'd have to wait for the snow to melt to deal with that. I'll call DTV tonight if it's still out to see what they suggest. Thanks for the offer, PDG. I shall check to see if I have the first 5-6 episodes (I don't think I do - went on a massive "cleaning" rampage once my LOST addiction kicked in). |

Pdg, thank you so much! I picked it up today and watched it already as I'm home sick. Please let me know if you ever miss an episode as I usually keep them around for a few weeks. Unfortunately, I don't have the first episodes of this season. Thanks again! |

No sweat Bets, I'm glad to help, especially when it is so easy! Hope you feel better quickly. And thanks to this thread, I found out we can buy the old episodes at itunes! (Watching them on the computer screen won't be as nice as on tv, though. Any tips as to whether it is possible to connect our computer to a regular, although newish, tv?)
