I'd love to see some sort of play next week with my 6 year old. Any ideas of fun vacation things - plays, museums, fun places -- cheap is also important!

Penny Pretzel Players are doing a puppet show at the Baird Center on Feb 22. It's Peter Rabbit and may be a bit young for 6 though.

What about getting the magazine "Time Out NY Kids" to check out offerings?

We usually try to do a museum of some sort & try to do a Black History Month activity...we might check out a skate park. A play is a good idea.

Check out the Forum Theater in Metuchen. They usually have inexpensive childrens plays during vacation weeks.

Alg -- check out PaperMill Playhouse, the Monclair Univ theater or the Community Theater in Morristown. I'll check my Essex guide for things here in West Orange.

Did the Explorer's Museum in East Orange on a field trip a number of years ago. It was lovely.

Also check out vacation week programs at Morris Museum: http://www.morrismuseum.org/static/education/family_vacation.html

thanks all -- so far we've got Monday at the Newark Museum to see some Planetarium Show. Paper Mill doesn't seem to have anything, maybe I am wrong. I'm going to look at the other links now.

Has he been to the Crayola factory yet? It's an easy hour drive on 78W.

You could also go ice skating. Check for the times of the public sessions at the South Mountain arena.

This isn't vacation week, but I thought of this thread when I heard an ad today for free/discounted tickets for families for theater during week of March 4 -12. http://www.jerseyarts.com/Familyweek/2006.html
