Does anyone know of a local place that will recycle / use old textbooks?

When I googled, I found some places in IL / CA that will send them to schools overseas, prisons, etc..., but I was unable to find any local drop off points.

Thanks.

If by recycling, you mean places that will use the books (assuming they are not too old to be useful -- even not so old textbooks may be too out of date to remain accurate enough for future use) the answer would depend on the type of textbook. Barnes and Noble will take used college level textbooks if they can resell them. Lower level textbooks might be in demand by tutoring and/or mentoring programs.

If by recycling you mean landfill or the equivalent, you can bring used books to the recycling center.

Thanks for the tips, Joan. I doubt that these are current enough to be resold by Barnes and Noble, but I may try that after exhausting the Freecycle.org route.

Thanks for your tips and offer, Crazy quilter.
I will contact you if the freecycler doesn't drop by this afternoon to pick up the remaining ones.

In my initial post, I was looking for an easy local charitable option for using them rather than just a resale option.
Thanks again.

i think some people on freecycle re-sale items, but i don't care when i am getting rid of things. sorry, I didn't get from your posts that you wanted a charity, i thought you just didn't want them to be landfill.
