 (x-posted in home fix-it)

I know spring is still a ways off, but I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on the best local nurseries or garden centers. I'll be putting in two new flower beds and "tricking" out the new deck. I'll be looking to buy plants and containers and lots of other supplies. I know there is a lot of mixed feelings about Home Depot, and I'm sure I'll spend some time there, but I'm looking for something a little more specialized...
 Thanks in advance!
 Jen

Williams in Westfield is great. It's on Meisel just over the overpass that goes over Rt 22. Not cheap, but excellent. Dubrow's in Livingston also has a great reputation, but starting this spring they are discontinuing their nursery operations and becoming just a landscape design firm.

Dubrows won't be selling annuals this year????????
Millstone in Maplewood isnt' bad, but I always counted on Dubrows for good plants and large selection.

There's a fabulous nursery in the Great Swamp. It's called, funnily enough, Great Swamp nursery. It looks like a private house, but when you drive in and park you see an enormous greenhouse with acres of plants. I don't remember the name of the road, but if you follow the signs to the Great Swamp, you'll find it. Maybe someone else has been there and can give directions.

I think the name of the road in the Great Swamp might be Meyersville Road. If I remember correctly it begins at Main Street Chatham.

Actually, Meyersville Road is off of Fairmount which is off of Main Street. Turn left at the Chinese restaurant and then a right on Meyersville Road. Then I think there is another street to turn on after that.

When Meyersville road hits the circle, take a right.

I love the great swamp nursery for plants, I'm not as thrilled with their annuals. I like Williams in Westfield for annuals.

Pdg, Dubrows has been running ads in the local Livingston weekly newspaper saying that it's discontinuing its nursery operations as of this spring, but staying open for landscape design and sales of lawn equipment/machinery. I was surprised too.
