I am trying to find some place to hold a pre-teen's birthday party this month. I'd like a shell that I can fill up with music and food- but I am open to suggestion. We are planning about 20-25 kids. Any help would be appreciated. |

my crawl space would be fun! i could set up the camera and have them play all sorts of cool games. you parents could just leave them there with me. we wont need chaperones. really. they will be ok. |

It's amazing what can transpire in a mere four minutes on MOL. |

You can try the Rec Center in Maplewood on Burnett Ave. It's a big space but there's a kitchen attached. Weekends would probably be booked but you might be able to get a weekday. I think a weekday for 4 hours would be $75 or so, great amount of time to set up, have a party & clean up. |

I think Ann at Stories In Motion rents out her room. And Jennifer at Beaded Path does too. |

All these suggestions sound good especially the Maplewood Rec. Remember the South Oeange rec has a room aslo. Aside from the music thing have you thought of the Ice Skating rink in West Orange? I don't think that you can play music though.Do ya need to be an Elk to rent the room in the Elks on Prospect...across the street from Our Lady of Sorrows church in South Orange? How about that small American Legion somewhere behind the Maplewood Hobby Shop on Springfield Ave? How about the Y? They might be able to accomadate your preteen party with gym activities and allow you to play the music you like in the gym. They have a long, narrow room where the kids can eat but 20-25 up there might be uncomfortable...unless you did an ongoing type table of foods that the kids could kind of mosey in and out of......well, I'm fresh out of ideas! lol Good luck! I have learned to limit the amount of children and do a sleepover thing in a hotel in Parsipanny. Embassy Suites ;) |

The Maplewood Y has a good sized all purpose room - we rented it for a bday party a couple years ago. I think it was $50/hr. |

....ahhh...yessss...the Ethhical Center! That is another good idea!!! In the warmer weather it is especially nice because you can drift into the yard, sit on the porch and even take a ride on the swing!!!!! The last function we attended at the Ethical center was cool! A 40th birthday! The kids at the party LOVED the swing! ;) |
