hello all:

i am in the process of searching for a babysitter for my 8-month-old son. i basically just need someone who we can call every now and then to go out and grab a bite to eat, see a movie, run errands, ect.

i placed an ad on MOL, but does anyone have any suggestions on getting a good sitter local to the area? i figure this would be great for a college student, or very mature highschooler...

or, does anyone have a babysitter looking for more work whose name they'd be willing to share? (i know, a good babysitter is hard to find!)

thanks!
krista

Hi Krista - my best source for sitters is other families' au pairs and their friends! If you go to Music Together or other baby classes, ask the other moms if they know of any sitters.

This board will probably also yield some offers.

FYI, we've made arrangements with a "regular" sitter for every other Sat. night and always make plans to go out, even if we just go to a movie. The sitter appreciates the reliable income and we get to make plans for shows, to go out with friends with out having to say "...if we can get a sitter" AND, the sitter seems more likely to be available to for last minute or mid-week shorties when they arise. We find it a worthwhile investment in our marriage and sanity!

Good luck!

PS. Sorry, no names to share.
