A friend of mine is considering moving to Maplewood. She needs help and information. First of all, can anyone recommend a good realtor? The one she is working with does not seem to know Maplewood very well. Second, can anyone speak to what it is like living here as a single person? She is looking at houses in the Hilton area, hoping to find a house in the range of $400K. I moved here with a small child and found that an easy way to make friends, so I can't advise her what it would be like as a single woman. Thanks in advance. |

Burdgroff realtor generally owns the market. They have a large office in Maplewood Village. Also try Weichert. Weichert is probably the second largest in the area. About being single in the area I can not really help with that. However, what I can say about the maplewood region (if you will). Maplewood is close to just about everything. That makes it an idea place to make home base. We are near: -Route 78 -Route 22 -NJ Parkway -NJ Turnpike -The state of PA -South Jersey is 45 minutes away -New York is 30 minutes by car; 45 by train -Newark is alive with redevelopment A single person should have a lot of options given that. I'll let someone else provide input as to where to go for single activity but places to think about: - The martini bar in South Orange!! - The Dancing Goat in South Orange - The Gas light in South Orange Lastly, two new condo complexes are being built. You should tell your friend about them. They are both near the Hilton area. |

The realtor we used was very good and lives in Maplewood. Her name is Nancy Chu and she is with Remax. Her email is nancychu_homes@yahoo.com. We highly recommend her, and she ws good in all segments of the market, I think we looked at them all.

yep, Remax is good too. They also have an office in Maplewood Village. The VP for Remax in this region is a great person too. |

I have just been hired by an out of town couple to take them around to different areas. I am not a realtor so have no desire to push any area. If they wish to be driven around and given the low down on the close in towns to Maplewood (like Millburn, Westfield, Summit) I am a 22 yr resident and am very well versed in all aspects of these areas. Let them call me 973.761.1735 or email Brooklyngirlbags@comcast.net. |

Also, there is an organization that is not related to realtors - the Community Coalition. We toured with them before we moved to SOMA over 7 years ago & got a lot out if our tour. http://twotowns.org/ Our realtor (for two house sales & one purchase) was Sally Rowe, now of Remax office at the SO train station |
